I always watch the CDC flu map, I cannot recall such a long period where the entire US was solid at the highest level for 5 weeks straight. In our area, it's hitting hard, everyone is sick.

It would also significantly reduce illiteracy and ignorance.
Public schools are a 19th century paradigm that outlived its usefulness in the early 21st century. Their two primary functions now is to provide jobs for people with expensive educations, and offer free daycare to parents who have sold themselves into indentured slavery.

You calculate those who have gone through the whole cycle. Recovered to deaths. As of this moment that is 362 dead and 530 recovered. China has lost the ability to test and are not recording all the numbers dead because they can not test all the dead any longer.

Been a hard 6 weeks (gosh, only six weeks..?) Been coming up on the bad side of the 6.7% mortality rate with a lot of clients passing on due to complications from the flu.

I would go further and say that many here are cheerleading this thing, not just “preparing” or being cautious. Humans fundamentally gravitate toward end of times scenarios. I see similarities on FR about this, to the climate change hysteria on the left .

People can starve to death for not preparing to self-quarantine, or maybe be quarantined, not by choice.

I can’t find anything on there that tells me anyone in the United States should be overly concerned.
The regular flu is a much bigger threat.

My doctor said that it appears that anyone who got their vaccine before (mid-)October this year got one which is not effective against the strain that actually hit.
The vaccine is a combo of three predicted strains that will hit each year.
Personally, I’ve been eschewing flu shots since college. A number of my friends got the flu after getting the swine flu shot.
Of course, I’m glad that everybody else if getting flu shots. It probably does help those of us that don’t partake of the vaccine.
(Then there’s the story of how the polio vaccine was harvested from a cancerous monkey.../s)

Any data re Flu Deaths, YTD?
The first reported China case was in early January. They knew about it earlier.
Keep in mind, if you are not “tested” then you don’t have the virus. And educated guess is that in the highly impacted areas, the death toll is easily in the 1000-1,500 range. And that is across 11 million people, not 350 million.
The corona virus is spread more easily and the case fatality rate is higher. They are even more contagious and more deadly if you the estimated figures rather than the “reported” bogus numbers the chinese are putting out.
This has the potential to be much, much worse if it gets here and gets loose.
Pay attention or not. Neither I nor the virus care. Lol.
