FOX News videos won't play on my PC
self

Posted on 01/31/2020 1:28:45 AM PST by Java4Jay

My updated Windows 10 PC using Google Chrome version 79 won't play news videos from Fox News website. No support found searching the net. Any ideas?

I also had issues with Foxnews videos running on Win10 and Chrome - it was due to a blocker - in my case Privacy Badger. Once I disabled the blocker for foxnews.com the videos ran fine.

I have since re-enabled the blocker because the auto-start videos on most pages are annoying, and if there is one I want to watch, I generally just view it in Edge.

Hope this helps.

It could be an HTML5 issue. Videos are now moving to the HTML5 format. Maybe there is a setting to allow HTML5?

“the ad-free version called Red Tube”

I googled red tube. Got a porn site (redtube.com). Can’t believe Youtube’s calling their premium service “red tube”.

“Red Tube” is porno, the Fieldmarshal was having some fun with you.

You are of course talking about “YouTube Red” which is actually now called “YouTube Premium”.

You know though you can just install an adblocker for free and watch all the you tube videos you want with no ads.

I wanted to support some channels so I stopped blocking ads, then they started doing double ads so I started again.

-- Help please --

I'd say the refusal on the part of your computer is actually the best help you can get. One less wasteland of misinformation.

“if there is one I want to watch, I generally just view it in Edge.”

With NoScript you can “temporarily” turn on just the video API/CDN service element item to view that video.

I used to support youtube too, until they got abusive with the ads and started censoring and manipulating accounts.

I would like to see conservative accounts move to Bitchute so that I don’t even have to go to youtube at all.

Yeah, some anti-virus (Kaspersky) put up some ad blocker, so I haven’t seen an ad on Youtube in ages. As for getting an ad on RedTube, especially in the middle of... well, that’s a real buzzkill.

FWIW: they won’t play on my machines either - any browser (I won’t allow Gargoyle on anything I use). I’ve given up even bothering with fox news...

You can turn off auto-start in Youtube. I agree; it’s annoying.

Problem Resolved: I run two extensions on my Chrome, AdGuard AdBlocker and Bitdefender Anti-Tracker. I had tried turning off Adblocker no help but turning off Anti-tracker resolved problem. I then manually added foxnews.com to exceptions in settings menu.

Windows 10 supports Flash Player, but only if you use the Microsoft Edge browser.

That is simply not true. I use at least 5 browsers with flash.

Why use Chrome? Even Firefox Quantum (inferior to Firefox 59. ESR) is better. Try Firefox Quantum 72.0 portable https://www.firefox-usb.com/

It works very very well, and because of this there is a slight learning curve, because it blocks ALL SCRIPTS by default and lists them. but it is not an ad blocker, I use it along with Ghostery ad blocker and they work well together.

But on some pages you have to go turn on the element in the list blocking certain things like the link buttons or java. But it is usually just the top item in the list which would be the site domain address.

But I will tell you what, it is well worth the very minimal extra effort. It is going to scare you how many hidden tracker and fingerprint scripts there really are on some sites. I have hit some that had over a hundred of these in place.

The NoScript will let you go turn on only what you absolutely need while leaving all the rest blocked. :)
