Jan. 28 (UPI) -- Firefighters in Florida said a hazmat team responded to a gas station where a man filling up his boat confused a fishing pole holder for the gas tank.
Orange County Fire Rescue said the customer at 7-Eleven in Orlando was attempting to fill up his 18-foot boat about 11:35 a.m. Monday when he accidentally pumped 30 gallons of gas directly into the cockpit.
Fire Rescue said the man pumped about $60 worth of fuel into the cockpit and then put another $40 of gas into the actual gas tank.
The hazmat team was able to siphon most of the gas out of the boat and no injuries or evacuations were reported at the station.

Paul Harvey told a story about a kid who tried to steal gas by siphoning it out of a travel trailer.
Unfortunately, he put the hose in the outlet for the toilet black water.

Saw a lady the other day pull into a gas station to fill up her car. Problem was the tank was on the other side of the car so she got back in drove around to the other side, got out, same thing, it was on the other side so she pulls off.
LMAO!

This happens more often than we know. I heard a similar story over 20 years ago.

I saw a guy in a van backing down a ramp. He was hot dogging it with his spinny knob on the steering wheel. It was late in the day and the ramp was slick. He hit the brakes and slid boat trailer and the van into the water. It stopped when the driver was hip deep in the water.

How does somebody that stupid get enough money for a rig like that? The Lord blesses whom he wants to bless.

A marina put 500 gallons of gas in our boat one time rather than the diesel that was required, they had a home fueling come down and siphon it all out.

Had a friend who had a sailboat and a not very proficient sailor poured diesel into the water tank. Massive screw up.
