Vanity: Why Won't Republicans Exercise Their Senate "Sole Power" And Do What They Did To Trump In The House?
1/28/2020 | Its All Over Except ...

McConnell says he doesn't have the votes to block witnesses?

If McConnell can't block witnesses, then make Biden, Adam Schiff, Pelosi, the whistleblower - all of them and more - testify. If not, we the base of the Republican Party have the votes to block any Republican in the Senate from being re-elected.

Why should Republicans exercise "The Senate shall have sole power to try all impeachments" as the Constitution says and in the same manner Democrats did with their "sole power" in the House? To bring an end to the Age of Impeachment.

Republicans did not get to call the witnesses they wanted when Schiff was interrogating people in the basement, and this set the agenda for selective leaks by Schiff and what infrmation was eventually presented to vote over whether or not to impeach, the both of which only benefitted Democrats.

The WH should move to block Bolton from testifying under Executive Privilege thus asserting their constitutional right of co-equal branches and to reaffirm the constitution declares the Supreme Court of the United States to be the arbiter of differences in these situations, which Democrats blatantly ignored when they charged the White House with Obstructing of Congress which is not an impeachable offense like Obstruction of Justice. And the White House was correct in ignoring the subpoenas because Rick Perry and others we're not going to be given the right to have an attorney present with them when they were to meet with Schiff during his interrogation of them.

Then the Senate should remind the House "The Senate shall have sole power to try all impeachments," then remind Americans of everything that Democrats said they had sole power over in the House, and then notify Democrats that they shall be treated in the same manner as they were treated by Schiff, Pelosi, Nadler, and other Democrats, namely, that Republicans were denied the right to call witnesses to meet Schiff to be interrogated, so they too will deny Senate Democrats calling witnesses.

Remind them of how Schumer in 1999 said that Senate trials of impeachment are political in nature just like impeachments are.

If they say no, hold them in contempt. If Republicans are asked why they are holding them in contempt, tell the U.S this is urgent like Pelosi once said and that this needs to be dealt with quickly.

Some will say that there is a box that the Senate is held within concerning what it may and may not do, but Democrats didn't act like there was a box they were held within. I don't know if the following should be done, but the Senate can make them testify and deny them counsel when they appear in the Senate the same way as Schifty did when he interrogated them in secret.

” so they too will deny Senate Democrats calling witnesses “

Exactly right.

Doing anything less in this case is nothing but surrender to the mob.

Not complicated. They don't have the votes.

Who in their right mind would say “Dems get to choose the witnesses in the House, Repubs there get nothing, Dems get to do the same in the Senate even though Repubs control it, and we’ll let Romney and others scuttle Biden, Hunter, Schiff, and The whistleblower being called”?

It’s like this Trump people completely shredded the rats articles but it obviously meant nothing. So it can only go down hill. The 4 or 5 rinos just ignored everything they said and now they are saying well we need more witnesses and information. What does that tell you. So we will be subjected to a parade of rat witnesses shoving knives into the president all because Mitch refuses to do what is needed to get 2 of the 4 back in line.

They have the votes to call Biden, Schifty, the whisteblower, etc, as witnesses.

53 votes in fact.

But what kind of Republican would say it’s fine if House Democrats call whomever they want to, Republicans get nothing there in the House, and we’re going to let Democrats called who they want to in the Senate but yet we’re not going to call Biden The whistleblower, etcetera?

Heck no to yes to Bolton, no to Schiff and Biden being witnesses.

All of the names together. One vote.

Because there are the usual suspects in the Republican Senate, who are more concerned about themselves then their country. They might as well be Democrats.

They are doing everything they can to be the minority. They are allowing the Democrats to run the senate.

McConnell has said he wants to wrap this trial as soon as possible. He’s not the weak link here. You know who they are.

"Why Won't Republicans Exercise Their Senate "Sole Power" And Do What They Did To Trump In The House?

Because they don't want to.

More than half of them would vote to convict if it was a secret vote and they wouldn't have to pay a price at election day

There’s another perspective to impeachment you might want to think about. President Trump, previous to the impeachment proceedings beginning, taunted Pelosi and the D’s to impeach him. It’s possible that part of Trump’s reelection strategy was to get impeached, knowing, because of his natural political instincts and his Reality TV Star experience, that impeachment would hurt the D’s and help him.

And the fact is, Impeachment is helping President Trump’s poll numbers and popularity. Also, while the D’s and the progressive left in general are focused on the bright shiney object called impeachment, they’re not able to effectively answer President Trumps successes in Foreign Policy, Mexico is paying for the wall because Mexico is now the wall; Trump and Netenyahu announced a peace plan today; The President signed the USCANMEX trade agreement that replaced NAFTA. Also, any party criticizing any President for killing three of the worlds top terrorists in rapid succession, are not doing themselves any favors. And I think the D’s are so off their game because they’re focused 100% on impeachment only. Just where President Trump wants their attention focused. In fact, President Trump is using the age old strategy of feeding his political enemies the rope with which he will hang them.

Think about it; President Trump and a few very loyal and trusted advisers are waging a political war, they’re fighting off a constan ongoing coup attempt being waged by very powerful people, organizations and thousands of people in the federal bureaucracy; somehow President Trump and his people are always a few steps ahead of them. Why? Because President Trump’s strategy has been to manipulate his enemies into positions that are not good for them, and by driving wedges between the D constituencies (the radical progressive socialists vs the moderate D’s). President Trump uses deception to manipulate the D’s and they fall for it everytime.

“McConnell says he doesn’t have the votes to block witnesses”

that’s nothing but fake news that’s been echoed repeatedly by the fake stream media, but all based on a single anonymously sourced NYT fake news “article” ...

multiple GOP Senators stated tonight on TV that they believe the impeachment trial will be over on or before this Saturday ...

Because they think this approach makes the optics better for them and they can continue to pound away at the “transparency” angle theyve been promoting. They cant very well spend weeks mocking the process the House used then imitate them out of spite. Its all going to end up the same way.
