131 Dead, 5564 Cases
Interesting theory: create a problem and provide the solution - this puts money in certain people’s pockets, and also says, “you need me/us, look at how we handled this emergency.”
It wouldn’t be the first time in history that a regime killed thousands or more of its own people to stay in power.

He even include herbs for cytokine interruption.
I hope that we keep them in quarantine for at least 2 weeks. That’s the AVERAGE time for symptoms to start displaying themselves. Give them all of the creature comforts possible, but keep them separated from the rest of us.
Do you have a source for that? Im trying to keep my info as up to date as possible when writing officials. I heard 10 days was the average.
Per my previous post, I heard 10 was average and 14 was longest they has seen.
San Diego: Suspected Case Tested
County prepared for new coronavirus; one patient under investigation
-snip-
POTENTIAL CASE REPORTED
Last week, HHSA issued a health alert to the local medical community asking them to be on the lookout for and report potential cases in people who have traveled to the areas where cases of this new virus (2019-nCoV) have been reported.
On Sunday, a potential case was reported to HHSA in a person who traveled to 2019-nCoV impacted areas in China. After consulting with a local hospital, a specimen was collected, sent to the County Public Health Lab for packaging and then sent to the CDC for testing.
The patient is currently in isolation at home and results are expected back from the CDC tomorrow. Currently, the CDC is the only entity capable of testing for this novel coronavirus...
Agree. I was just pointing out that our politicians are not what they claim to be (I know, that’s awfully shocking, isn’t it?).
Best of luck to you, your family and the same for everyone else in the country. I earnestly hope that this can be confined to the smallest number of people possible, and that the greatest possible number of them can be saved.
Unlike other corona viruses that infect the mucosal membranes of the nasal passages, 2019-nCoV infects the simple squamous epithelium in the lungs.
The data suggest that 2019-nCoV is a manmade combination of a corona virus from bats (which causes cold and flu symptoms) with a blood borne pneumonia virus from a mammal other than humans (which causes the bloody pneumonia that kills the host). The corona virus provides the pathway for the lethal pneumonia virus to enter a human host.

Agree completely. And the reaction by the Chinese is incredibly serious. But if the coroners are not being sent out, that means bodies are sitting in homes, or being brought (somewhere?) unofficially, or being collected by military in protective gear and stashed or buried.
We don't know, we can rampantly speculate all we want. But in the age of internet, even censorship by China has workarounds. Pictures or testimony of casualties would get out.
No, the average incubation time is a few days. The maximum is 14.
Go to the text just below the picture of the bus. There is also a lot of other information there.
This quotes the CDC - 14 days.
FYI, I had heard/read the 14-day figure elsewhere, several days ago. I think that it is better to err on the side of caution (i.e. quarantine time) vs. releasing someone who might be infected because they are inconvenienced. I honestly wouldn’t want to be quarantined like that, but everyone in that situation should be very satisfied that their inconvenience may save many, many lives.
Oh, great. I may be going to the San Diego area in the next couple of days. I better get a damned mask and some 90% alcohol.
This may well explain the state of panic of the Chinese government. Who builds 2 hospitals in 10 days and quarantines 50 million people for schitts and giggles? No, something is scaring the absolute crap out of them. I don’t care what they say, but I definitely pay attention to what they DO.
Scary stuff.
Not to mention the workers on the boat. This thing takes long enough to manifest that a sailor on a cargo ship could die halfway through the voyage, and his crewmates might still be healthy enough to complete the trip before symptoms start to show. They spread it to the dock workers, the cargo handlers, etc, who then spread it further. It wouldn’t take much for a trucker handling the outside of a box to leave enough virus behind to infect the store’s stockroom staff.
The stuff inside the packages might be safe, but the crates and boxes they’re shipped in? All those hands.
You may be correct...but in my (anecdotal) experience, the general public is not told the entire truth. Authorities tend to not want to panic the public, and certainly not interrupt commerce for long, so they lie and hope that the medical professionals can tame whatever the disease of the day might be.
No, that is not evidence, I’m not a doctor, I don’t play one on TV and I didn’t even sleep in a Holiday Inn Express - but that has been the case in almost every outbreak of a serious disease that I can remember. That said, I’d still rather err on the side of caution - i.e. quarantine people coming out of China (anywhere there, not just Wuhan) for at least 2 weeks.

Both articles say 2-14 days (14 being the longest). But I agree that its best to go a few days past that. What can it hurt?
Or is working at the Super Bowl? Or at a hotel near there? Restaurant? Cab company? Bank?
An infected service-industry worker could spread it to thousands of people per day, even without a big event like the Super Bowl.
Will you be posting the updated CDC numbers?
Please ping, if you do. TIA.
