Another poster said that of the 41 “original” cases, 8 of them have died. So a mortality rate of about 20%. (Assuming it was only 41 people that got it. I’m guessing some people got it but it was never so bad that they went to the hospital?)
Anyway - the 1918 flu was estimated to have a mortality rate of 10% to 20%. The 2018-19 flu in the USA (90,000 dead) had an estimated mortality rate of 0.25%.
Not counting 2019-nCoV, I read that of 6 known coronavirus branches 4 are seasonal.
Who knows if it is real or from this virus. But I’m guessing it could be. It appears the person also has a fever.

Just looked it up: The 1918 flu began in the spring of 1918 (weak form), got stronger in the fall of 1918, and was pretty much over by August 1919.

Not sure of your experience with Chinese international reporting is, but my experience in the finance world is that they are ALWAYS lying.
The environment itself during the cool, dry winter is itself a strongly favorable factor for the seasonal viruses. Also, absence of UV due to cloudiness in many temperate places.
Oh, I think the infected number must be at least five to ten times higher. I base this on the fact they are trying to build another 1,500 beds in the next two weeks. They probably three to four times that.
I have read stories of back ups at the crematoriums throughout the infected cities. Obviously I have no proof.

They stay home and ride it out, about a 5 or 6 day inconvenience.
