Kobe Bryant died in a helicoper crash in Calabasas Sunday morning ... TMZ Sports has confirmed.

Kobe was traveling with at least 3 other people in his private helicopter when it went down. A fire broke out. Emergency personnel responded, but nobody on board survived. 5 people are confirmed dead. We're told Vanessa Bryant was not among those on board.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.

I know it's horrible to think about, but if this was the first time the 13-year-old daughter was competing at the Kobe Bryant tournament at the Kobe Bryant facility, wouldn't the whole Bryant family want to be there to cheer her on?

I don't think folks worship sports, they enjoy the camaraderie when together and sharing a like interest. Actually those right here on FR are "Political Spectators" just as much.... with favorites and those they distain. Emotions can get just as high as in sports.

I'll to you, one thing I'm NOT seeing in the coverage that's usually common to stories like this is guests giving condolences to his wife and daughters, I'm not hearing the anchors talking about how his wife must be devastated, or about how to explain something like this to the remaining children, or how the entire NBA community will be there for the family during their grief, etc.
