Well, our best defense is this time of year....We are home, off the road from the fair season....We live ten miles from town. Once a week we do go to town and the casino...so there is that risk...But staying away from children is the most important in my opinion as they end up carrying so many diseases from public school...
Of course if one has children, then that is impossible...but for people like us that ate our children instead of raising them...no issue. (sorry for the joke.)

The USA was able to easily handle around a quarter of a million people hospitalized with flu in 2017-18, so it’s unlikely there will be any collapse of our ability to cope with another flu because we have so many well-equipped medical facilities in every state. Lots of rumors apparently originating in China that there are actually between 90-100k infected. Given the very unusual steps the government is taking, that number makes sense. Quarantines/evacuations are tricky to manage even with a compliant populace, add panic and it’s unpredictable.
This feels different to me than recent viral outbreaks.
