Thought it may be a good idea to have a place to follow all the fast moving events in one place
updates coming in fast
Naturally the staff of the hospitals in and around Wuhan are under a lot of pressure.

“or in other words...symptoms of many different kinds of illnesses.”
Exactly.
“And unless you have been to China, insurance is not going to want to pay for a test.”
I have no idea. I assume if you test positive, they will pay for it.
“N 95 Masks selling out across Asia - “
I went to several drug stores here in Bangkok yesterday. Out if stock at all of them.
People have designer masks here that match their clothes. Many are black cloth with replacement filters in them.
Luckily I brought a few with me from USA.
So a person says
Hey Doc, I have a cough and some congestion.
No fever.
Contagious or not?
I don’t think you can say with certainty that the person isn’t contagious. Too much is unknown.
The doc will think he has the flu or a cold
Unless he asks did you fly on a plane with some chinese people.
Then he might rethink it.
In the meantime, Good Ole Doc just caught the virus.
Nah, we KNOW it came from eating at the market. China says so

3 being monitored in TX. 1 student at A&M. 1 student at Baylor. Wanna bet the 3rd mystery case is a student at UT Austin?

We are getting citizen reports and video out of China, but not much. Can you imagine if this were happening in the United States? The total amount of social media video posts would be overwhelming. China has to be blocking content from getting out of the country. Are American companies like Twitter helping the Chinese government control the content so they can continue to operate in those countries?
Other symptoms include NO fever, difficulty breathing.
Twitter is blocked in China. Either people are circumventing or the videos are being reposted from Weibo.

The only “test” is at CDC and the single bench that can do it is overwhelmed.
It’s going to be hard to get tested for a while.
They’re not tearing up the road in that video. They are barricading it with rocks and dirt. You won’t get any confirmation from the CCP.
Reportedly, some infected patients have severe symptoms but non-febrile.
Don’t give the RATS any ideas about what to say.
Just ask the PLA how deadly a flu has to be before it is deployed internally and some issued L4 hazmat suits
Makes you wonder how many chinese university students traveled home when school was out for the holidays. There are thousands of chinese students across the country attending school.
Yes too much is unknown and i am certainly not an expert. But I do know that those viruses cause fever and aches along with cough. Maybe not always, but usually. If it only causes cough in a large number of cases, then it is not a particularly lethal virus at that point. I put the caveat in bold. but I have not seen any evidence there is a two phase process of benign infection followed by lethal infection.
