“For whereas SARS is thought to have started in cats and MERS in camels, 2019-nCoV is another leap, and probably passed on from seafood given its starting point. So what started out a decade ago as an Avian virus has, we can now suspect, been repeated on land and sea.”

This morning, it was snakes [likely those freakish “virility enhancement” drinks made from rice wine and various venomous snakes] and now it’s what, shrimp?

A lot of this crap comes from their obsession with their willies, it seems.

But you might interact with their grandparents who interacted with the student’s parents.

It’s too soon to know the efficacy of this pathogen, but we just purchased n95’s and n99’s just in case. Probably not a major concern and media hype, but...

Cheap insurance

Most contagions are transmitted prior to debilitating symptoms

Close them down ???? No! we need basic research!

Tell them they have to admit US citizens first. If no US citizens qualify that has to be put in writing with signature of the grad student coordinator, the department head & the dean attesting to the fact no US students fill the bill. If student’s home country is discovered using the IP developed at the university and paying no royalties back to the university. The university must refund the state & fedgov the cost of the student plus cost of the research.

Do that & the problem would soon resolve itself.

Not a bad article, and includes this:

“reducing production of inflammatory cytokines and proteins”

But a study found that “low” doses increase production and “high” doses reduce production. Thus the quandry. I guess take as much as you can tolerate, within reason

BTW, the black spots you find in many NAC capsules are not mold; these are places that are beginning to oxidize. Still ok to take them. And likely there will be a sulfurous odor: this is normal.

The common cold - the hanta virus family — is this transmittable.

The Chinese virus is a corona virus, as are many cold viruses, and is not related to the hanta viruses. Most coronaviruses causemild illness. However, there are a few nasty onesin the family. Feline Infectious Peritonitis, FIP, is a corona virus that affects cats, and is always fatal. SARS was pretty worrisome for a while there.

Hah!

They are definitely obsessed with virility over there.

They should just call it virality now.

Not terribly deadly, just a measly 35% mortality rate.

~~~~
Source please.
Around a quarter of confirmed cases are severe, according to the WHO. So far, the fatality rate is around 4 percent, though that could change as the outbreak progresses. The fatality rate for SARS was about 14 to 15 percent....
