Should have been done a long time ago. Glad he’s being recognized finally.

Who gives a rat's hindquarters what his race is! There were clearly many, many Sailors and Marines who served heroically on that day and Petty Officer Miller was one of them.
This old Army guy thinks it's outstanding that one of those brave men has been so honored.

U.S.S. Liscombe Bay was a CVE; combustible, vulnerable, and explosive. She became a mushroom cloud.

He had another ship names after him, retired the ship in 91.

I thought the Navy only named carriers after presidents.
Not that I have a problem with it. At least it isn’t hussein, or some other affirmative action BS.

I wish they would go back to naming capital ships after STATES. We after all, are paying for them.
USS Arizona, West Virginia, and Oklahoma should go to the front of the line.

Hear! Hear!
Capitol ships should be named after brave Sailors, Marines and key battles.

Excellent!
Although I think very shortly we will be hearing this from the media described as just another form of racism...

I’m of the opinion that naming a destroyer after him would be more appropriate. The current naming convention does call for CVs to be named for presidents. But I guess it’s better than naming it after William J Clinton.

A Brave man—honored BUT—It should be a DE and not a carrier. They should be named after Presidents. We have loads of great presidents to use—like Jefferson, Grant, Madison, Taylor, Truman, Adams, etc... We were naming Boomers after states but—I would like to see Battleships return and name them after states. Armed with rail guns, drones, nukes, they could be an asset in naval war. Or maybe bring back Monitors with rail guns—named after Indian Tribes.

If O—— was still in charge we’d have the sailor that saved the Captain and the captain’s husband, being named.
