Electric taxis will charge up wirelessly as they wait on the rank as part of a £3.4 million trial, ministers announced today.
Transport Secretary Grant Shapps said the new technology could eventually be used by public drivers of electric cars.
Ten taxis in Nottingham will be fitted with the hardware later this year.
When they are parked over pads installed in the ground, their batteries will charge automatically.
The system recognizes the vehicle and bills the driver for the power.
The technology removes the need for cables and fixed charging points.

Thank you! It was the best 7 years of my 79+ years life on earth, playing golf full time at the beautiful Royal Oaks country club golf course in Vancouver, WA. Played with seniors group with $6 fee in the pot and it was team versus team competition and the best winning team of the day got all the money in the pot that day. Then I did not like when the club decided to remodel the club house (which was nice already) and the monthly fee jacked up by $75. So switched to Orchard Hill golf club in nearby town which was cheaper, but the golf course was of course not as nice. But still great to play unlimited golf for a fixed monthly fee.

I read that in Germany, private companies have set up charging stations and are losing money hand over fist as few as using those stations. According to the article, one outfit is charging 79c for each kilowatt hour, so a 100 kw car will be paying 80 Euro for a "fill up".
I'm with you in wondering what those stations here in the States charge - it's something you never read about.

I also add the power losses from the individual to the government. They are using transportation to indoctrinate the people. I am sure that is the bigger picture.

If you consider all the parts of the system, as illustrated by the schematic, you will understand how it is one that wastes lots of energy to make it work.
