hen it comes to love, as the song says, birds, bees, even educated fleas do it.
But that old, catchy Cole Porter tune certainly didn't consider the impact of fleas -- educated or not -- and other creepy hair crawlers on a woman's ability to love a man with a beard.
According to a new study, if a woman runs screaming from hair-dwelling creatures such as lice, ticks, fleas and the like, she's likely to find men with beards much less attractive.
It's on an unconscious level, of course. But from the viewpoint of her inner animal brain, who wants to pucker up to a mouth fringed by a thicket of hair that might contain tiny, squirmy, maggot-like creatures?

It all depends on the man. And the beard.
My mother didn’t like beards. My older brother had one off and on his whole adult life. When he had one, Mama would nag him to shave it. Back 30-some years ago he had one and she would always comment. “I wish you’d shave that beard.” etc etc. We went to visit his family one day and were at his home several hours. Halfway through the drive home Mama gasped. “He shaved his beard!” It took her that long to notice!
“Beards came from the special operators in the middle east wars.”
It must be true that beards were more common in the old days because shaving was not as easy at it is now.
Today a man chooses a beard because he thinks it makes him look better. Nothing wrong with that.
Seems like most of the guys with beards these days are male-feminists, soy boys, hipsters, and ISIS wannabes.
Simple solution, CNN. Wash your beard when you take a shower. What drivel.
I think that just about every woman I have ever dated, lived with, or married, were genetically programmed to look over a mans body and look for thinks to pick on my skin.
It starts with that laser focus of them checking me out and then they move in and strike. From plucking stray hairs to the smallest of pimples. They can’t control themselves and just have to pick at it...
What’s the difference between Republican and Democrat bearded women?
There are no bearded Republican women.
My wife is the same. My daughters want me to grow a beard, just to see what I would look like.
I can just see the personal ad...
“Bearded man seeks a woman to be his beard.”
'Does the carpet match the drapes?'
'She has hardwood floors!'
Went out with two....Always impressed me as “dirty”...and yucky. Nice guys though....
For you, I'd shave...
Women with facial hair is a turn off.
My wife loves a beard. I dont care once past the itchy stage. However, I am in my mid-fifties and while I dont have a grey hair on my head .... my beard is another story. White chin, white intermixed in on the cheeks. So I tried to dye my beard only to find out that I am EXTREAMLY allergic to the dye. Chemical burn type of alergic.
So I either go clean shaven or I look like my wife’s dad when I wear the beard. /sigh/
Any Freepers out there have a good recommendation for hypoalergenic bear dye?
‘She has hardwood floors!’
LOLOL. Really, I am honestly laughing out loud. Never heard that before. Classic!
Thank you. I don’t often get an opening for that...
Why would a man cultivate on his face something that grows wild on his ass?
Ive had a beard since I was 14 or so, having grown up in an Orthodox home.
Showed up at the equivalent of basic training for the IDF and got the nickname Jewbacca, as beards were tolerated, if not liked in the Israeli military.
Because my job (pilot) requires me to wear a mask, the beard has been close cropped to allow for a positive seal, but still in compliance with my religious obligations.
One time we had a CO who required the beard to basically be glorified stubble. I came home and my youngest cried and hid from me.
Same here and throw in nose rings, body piercings and tattoes!
My facial hair, hair on top and other hair grows like it has been fertilized.
I could never stand growing a beard after 2-3 days. It was like having a Brillo pad cut in half rubbing my facial skin. 24/7. So no beards.
Now, I have a standing appointment every 4 weeks to have the hair on the top of my head cut and trimmed.
My wife is an RN and she went back to work after our kids got to be 10 and 12. She worked in a busy FP office.
After she started to work, I noticed that I was getting more colds and light flus during the local crud out breaks.
The doctor she worked for, had a mustache and seldom had the crud that apparently my wife was bringing home from their medical office. He suggested that I talk to the local infectious disease doctor and why he and so many IDs and busy MDs had full mustaches.
The ID doc said that a full and clean mustache apparently blocked or impeded the germs and viruses and ???? from getting into your nasal passage.
He said that I would have to wash, clean and dry my mustache several times each day and before I went to bed.
At first my wife was against it, and then I got the local crud that was going around and was sick for a week.
She, then said, “Grow one, keep it neat and clean and lets see.”
I had zero crud attacks the rest of that year and basically none the next year.
One of my wife’s brothers was/is married to a nurse, and he was having the same problem.
My wife suggested to that SIL to have her husband, my wife’s
bro, grow a mustache. He did and had the same good results.
The second bro was married to an office manager/lead receptionist in a busy business in a college town. He had the same problem, and he grew a mustache and had the same good results.
