Bushfires have nothing to do with climate change, says scientist and bushfire expert

Australia’s current bushfires have nothing to do with climate change and everything to do with fuel-loads, according to scientist and bushfire expert, David Packham AO.

Five years ago, Mr Packham, a former bushfire researcher at CSIRO, warned that unless there is a drastic increase in annual fuel reduction burnings “a massive bushfire disaster will occur”.

According to Mr Packham’s predictions, “The forest and alpine environment will decay and be damaged possibly beyond repair and home and people [will be] incinerated.”

I take it this website is probably the only place we will hear about this as it doesn't fit the narrative created by people who do not research bush fires.

I read somewhere that it is mostly due to arson, and that seems credible.

Haven’t most California forest fires been attributable to accident or arson? Sure, they are prolonged and worsened by state policy, but as to the actual ignition...?

Same problem as California -- poor forestry management.
Many people know how it's supposed to be done but politicians have their own ideas.

The LIEberal media in Australia are just as bad as they are here.

They were trying to goad the Prime Minister with climate change issue questions all the while he was trying to communicate the management of the immediate crisis.

If he had the gift of smack-down that President Trump has he could have harassed right back at them.

Everything has to do with global warming, whether it’s bush fires, floods, hurricanes, or cold snaps. Don’t make us send Greta down there.

Aussie bush fires are a result of ..... bushes. Lots of bushes. The most since European settlement. The fires are most fierce along the east coast where over 90% of Aussie live. Go figure 🥴....

Same thing is happening in forests throughout the U.S.
Due to libs refusal to allow forests to be thinned and have their floors cleaned of dead trees and mulch our fires will be larger and more frequent.
Flagstaff is a case in point.
Way too many trees per acre for a healthy forest and feet of mulch of dead matter piling up.

Bushfires have nothing to do with climate change, says scientist and bushfire expert

Well, duh. "Climate change" is an amorphous entity to which any activist can attribute any characteristic they want. There is no concrete item associated with "climate change." On the other hand, poor forestry management has very tangible causes and effects. Failure to clear old brush and deadwood leads to an abundance of fuel, which, under hot dry conditions needs only a spark to begin rapidly escalating combustion. Vs. "climate change," which leaves one at a loss to explain anything in terms of factual events.

A year ago, the New York Times and the Australian media were praising the aboriginal for using traditional methods of setting fires to regenerate the environment and for hunting.

Lay this at the feet of environmentalists who insist nature not be disturbed. Also at the feet of those who capitulate to these whacko environmentalists.
If people don’t manage the brush and undergrowth, Mother Nature will.

How can you argue with a GrandJediMasterYoda?

Just ask the GrandJediMasterYoda for the answer and be done with it.

When trees die, the dead wood fills the forest floor.

That is like the U.S. Forest Service passing regulatory law that when a person dies in the city, we just step over the accumulating corpses.
