(CNN) The Selective Service website crashed Friday because of "the spread of misinformation," the agency tweeted.
The website's crash came hours after the announcement that the head of Iran's Revolutionary Guards' Quds Force, Qasem Soleimani, was killed by a US airstrike ordered by President Donald Trump. The hashtag #WorldWarIII was one of the top trends on Twitter Friday.

And how old are you?
history is a story of an endless stream of wars abbreviated by interludes of peace and prosperity. I doubt it will ever change except to become more remote controlled.
Good time to develop a "Space Force" to regulate civilization and keep liberty on top
I’m not a warmonger anymore. I’m sick to death of it. Which is why I like DJT so much. He’s been trying real hard to put the fear of God into all of our enemies, not to create wars, but to stop them in their tracks. So far it’s been working out fairly well.
I swear, everyone forgets what Obama left us with.
:)
> About half of them would.
Im about to turn 68 so I escape your high-end plan.
But in 1970 I registered, in the worst of the VietNam War. I was a lucky one, in that although I had a low lottery number, my local SS office only called up guys with numbers up to 2 less than mine. A few buddies of mine got drafted and shipped into the hell hole of SE Asia. A couple didnt come back alive.
The military draft ended in 1973 and for the past 46 years weve had a volunteer military. Those folks who have volunteered deserve our support, gratitude, and respect. A restart of the draft would be a big damn deal, especially since the question of drafting women (and non-binaries) would have to be considered.
So can the sarcasm and dont joke about the draft here. A lot of FReepers take draft talk very seriously. Thanks.
WTF is wrong with you? Go clutch your Pearl’s if you can find them.
I prefer diplomacy, taking out the military leadership of an army that invaded Iraq and attacked our Embassy which is a Internationally recognized act of war IS good diplomacy. Especially after the idiot in charge just stated we could do nothing about it
Or would you prefer we just had the marines mow the idiots down in mass on the embassy grounds, and let the leadership walk away? The rotting blood would have stunk up the place for months.
Much cleaner this way and quite to the point dont you think?
A lot more sheeple get to live this way, and they can just hose off the road into the nearest sewer.
xlnt
Had this come across my Twitter feed this evening:

“Well, didn’t surprise me, given my retired military status, but got my notice tonight that they need me to sit on the local draft board here in northern Virginia. Tis a sad duty.”
Troll
Well, how about that. It appears you took my advice, and deciding that you didnt have anything useful to add, stopped posting crap to the thread.
Thank you!
Totally. But it appears he gave up and ran away. :-)
Let me at em...right after nap time...
Think of something useful to add or STFU."
Excellent! Very appropriate, and similar to the President's Reaper strategy as well...
In addition, I just finished re-watching the TV series "The Americans"... Sometimes, since 2008, I've thought that we could write a similar series titled "The Freepers"... {:-)
And no exemptions for college, except for STEM or medical. The STEM and medical go into ROTC.
Persian tradition is to draft and put gender x out in front
What about Democrats that are siding with Iran on Qassem? Should they be forced into Iranian service to kill Americans? I mean, that’s what Qassem has been doing, and the Democrats are bloody angry with Trump killing their top terrorist.
I served 18 years in the US Navy and retired in 96. Last of the Clinton era early outs. Now I am 62. But sure, if they want me to go, I’ll go. They’ll have to retrain me. I was a Radioman when I was in and they do not have that rate anymore and communications is totally different than when I was in. So sure, they can retrain me, stick me back in a uniform, have me exercise till I am fit to serve, send me back on a ship. I’ll go.
Nobody, not even “neocons” want war with Iran. That’s hyperbole, an old Cold War Soviet canard used to persuade the weak minded to ignore the facts and react emotionally instead. What is wanted is a foreign policy that is not submissive to Iran, does not attempt to appease by financing Iran, and will make it so costly for Iran to employ terrorists that negotiation is more attractive than blowing up embassies, hunting down dissidents, and taking hostages. A submissive, passive foreign policy like the one we have pursued for 40 years in the futile hope Iranians would eventually take care of themselves will never work while every western country is propping up the regime with backdoor trading. Ignoring Iran and letting it have its way is no deterrent to war, rather, it makes terrorism and militancy a more attractive option for Iran’s regime to achieve its objectives.
Appeasement and accommodation of Iran has only emboldened the Iranian regime to commit assassinations and terrorism abroad, political and religiously motivated executions at home, and has lent support to Iran’s affiliation with narco-terrorist cartels. It’s allowed the regime to coordinate weapons development with Russia, China, North Korea and Syria; and it has of course given the regime’s propagandists time to develop an effective narrative with which to dupe gullible people outside Iran into wittingly and unwittingly supporting policies in their countries that ultimately serve to preserve and strengthen the regime and by extension its partners in crime like Russia, Venezuela, Cuba, Zimbabwe, Sudan, and North Korea, among others.
The main function of the vestigial draft is to give the peace at any cost crowd a tool with which to scare the very young and not too bright.
