If you've never been in the presence of a day-old calf, they happen to be disconcertingly large. Recently I followed onethe color and size of a golden retrieveras it stumbled around Diane St. Clair's barn, bleating loudly. Rain pounded on the roof, my boots were spattered with mud, and my neck ached after a five-hour drive. But it hardly mattered. I'd come to this sparsely populated corner of western Vermont to taste the country's most sought-after butter.

I keep abreast of Land-O-Lakes.
No, but selling butter for $50 a pound lets you watch who buys it and know who the gullible and possibly outright stupid people are.
Kerrygold is pretty tasteless.
Kerrygold is the best!
I’ll have to get me a real nice big loaf of Italian bread and do a real taste test. :-)
At $50 a pound, I expect it to be smeared on someone really beautiful.
There's a sucker born every day!!
Butter is very easy to make. All you need is a food processor, heavy cream, a little salt and about 15 minutes. There are many videos on YouTube showing how.
I like Land O’ Lakes unsalted butter. It’s the best available at my closest grocery store.
Let’s just hope Mayor Pete doesn’t do a fundraiser at a Butter Cave.
The Land o’ Lakes indian won’t like that one bit.
Cabot makes some awesome white cheddar~!
Kerrygold.
Love it.
Didn’t Land O’Lakes/holding company just declare bankruptcy?
I love Kerrygold or Pflueger butter
The flavors are distinct and way better than “Land-O-Fakes”
And I couldn’t care less what it cost...
Nope
I can taste the difference between cheaper butters and more expensive butters.
Same as booze.
Ding. You win the best post
No....but one of these days, Im gonna try Kerrygold.
Kerrygold is good. Maybe too good. I had to stop buying it because I found myself eating pats of butter as-is after generously spreading it on toast. It became a pound a week habit which I had to break.
My wife was born in Vt and raised in Nh. We lived and raised our children in ct. During one of our many visits to her parents, our daughter went to a church youth group function. The kids in the youth group were fascinated with our daughter because she was a flatlander. Our daughter was upset at being called a flatlander and appealed to her mom. Mom informed her that she indeed was and always will be a flatlander.
