I converted to the Catholic Faith about 7 years ago from being a life long Lutheran. I watched the video only of his slapping her away. I did not realize there was audio. When I watched that, it occurred to me that Pope Saint John Paul II would NEVER behave in a manner like that under any circumstances. This was NOT God’s head of the church behavior from this Pope and he needs to be held accountable for his actions.

I just read a Washington Times article. The Pope has apologized for slapping the hands of the woman. In my opinion he needs to apologize directly to the woman he hit.

And behold, the Vicar of Christ strolled among the crowds. Now there was a woman with an issue and she said, “If I only can gain his attention, he might listen to me.”

She reached out and grabbed the Vicar’s hand. The Vicar of Christ exclaimed, “Who are you to touch the Earthly represenative of Christ Himself?” And, he slapped her hand, insulted her and told her, “Go on your way and touch no more. I’ll apologize from the safety of the Vatican.”

And thus the Harlequin Guard sighed with great relief.
