Today’s Cryptogram
Posted on 12/30/2019 4:59:56 AM PST by nikos1121
From the Arkansas Gazette, again another fairly easy CG. Look it over before you start as youll see several obvious words. Then start your stopwatch app. Anything under 4 minutes is good, under 2 is excellent, and 1 minute or less Is amazing..
HI HZ DGJV HDFGJIUYI IG LYGQ QTVJV AGC UJV KGHYK ITUY IG KVI ITVJV ECHSLBA. ZGCJSV CYSBVUJ
You can find this little fun word game, to combat early dementia and senility in us baby boomers, in several daily publications.
The way it works is a letter stands for another letter. For example: AXYDLBAAXR is LONGFELLOW (does not apply to today's cryptogram).
Beware, the game is very addictive. If this is your first time, don't be intimidated.
PLEASE DO NOT post the answer in general comments, but DO post your time and any tips you might give the group on how you solve these puzzles as puzzle solvers love to hear how you made out.
You can certainly send your solution to my private reply, or if you need a hint for todays Cryptogram.

If you're just starting out on these, be patient, as you'll be proficient in no time.
If you need a little help you can copy the cryptogram and paste it to Hals Helper below:
You can then work on the puzzle without using pen and paper.

Dear Friends:
Please answer my survey
1. How often do you play the CG puzzle?
2. How long have you been playing?
3. Have you noticed any improvement in your memory, mentation or ability to communicate i.e. finding the right word to say when addressing an audience or a few people?

Yup. Then it just fell into my hand. Oddly enough, in today’s puzzle I had both parts of what it was talking about. About 90 sec. Not a single letter wrong.

1) Every day
2) Ever since you started this thread, but I first started about 40 years ago when I read the paper in the morning. Stopped when I stopped reading the paper about 20 years ago
3) Can't say I've noticed any improvement in memory or vocabulary, but I have noticed an improvement in my mental outlook on life and my own mood. The quotes often pop into my head when I encounter certain circumstances.

1. I play every day. It’s the second thing I look for in the morning, after the S & P futures.
2. I’ve been playing about 1 year.
3. I do remember more day to day details.
Thanks for posting the puzzle every day.

1. Every day
2. Two months; now going back to some of your older cg's when I have time. You're right. It's addictive.
3. I'm ancient. Too early to tell for sure but it seems to help.
