A hard-boiled egg recall has expanded to products sold at Walmart and Trader Joe's following a deadly listeria outbreak.
Almark Foods broadened the recall to include all hard-boiled egg products manufactured at its facility in Gainesville, Georgia, due to potential listeria contamination.
The listeria outbreak has been linked to seven cases, including one death and four hospitalizations, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported. The outbreak is contained to five states, but the recalled products were shipped nationwide.
The expanded recall includes popular brands and organic fare, like Egglands Best, Pete & Gerry's and Vital Farms.
Trader Joe's egg and potato salads were recalled, too, because Almark Foods provided broken egg whites used in their production.

I'd do the same thing, but that bulk package 50 gallon drum of boiling water is really heavy!
There really are a lot of “tried and true” solutions to that problem but I’ve never been able to make any of them work consistently.
Start with cold water, and after boiling for a few minutes, turn off burner, let them sit in the hot water then cool down under the faucet if they’re going to be peeled right away BUT if not, put in the fridge to cool down and even then get a surprise whenever you decide to peel them and be ready to SCREAM like I do.
Sometimes the advice works and sometimes it doesn’t (mostly not) and when it doesn’t I’m there picking tiny bits of shell off the cotton pickin’ eggs. The trick is getting to that membrane where the whole thing comes off cleanly but the trick is getting to it. Wouldn’t you think after 70+ years of boiling eggs, I’d have it down pat?
I NEVER volunteer to take deviled eggs to any church supper or anyone’s house. I have a friend who makes super deviled eggs and I do exactly what she tells me to do and I don’t get the same result! I VOLUNTEER her deviled eggs for her!

Oh, I've tried stuff with farm eggs (that last so much longer than storebought ones). My storebought eggs can sit around for a couple weeks since I usually have between 2-6 dozen at any given time. I just haven't noticed older eggs are any easier than newer ones. Sounds like I need to experiment!
Nothing seems consistent for me. The most interesting was the hydraulic method. Use a quart Mason jar, put a couple inches of cold water in the bottom. Give the boiled egg a little crack on the shell, and drop into the jar. Put lid on, shake violently, and the eggshell is supposed to come off. It kind of works, but is very tedious with a dozen or two eggs.
I'm waiting for MagnaTron's expanded explanation of steaming them. I really want to try this.

They taste gross too. A good idea as pre-cooked hard boiled eggs from a store can be an excellent snack or lunch. But they just don't taste good when bought at the store. Must be the way they are made (probably in bulk quantities) and packaged.
They are very easy to make at home a dozen at a time and they store fairly well in your home refrigerator for a few days. But I find it even easier to fry them. WIth a non-stick pan, a little butter and pepper, you can make some awesome fried eggs in about three minutes. Then the pan rinses and wipes clean in seconds.
Use an electric pressure cooker (Instant Pot). Shells slip off every time.

Whatever you do, don’t get one of those air-pressure gadgets you see advertised on TV. My wife bought one, so I boiled up a dozen eggs to try it out. Got one decent peel out of the six I tried; the rest were variously mangled, up to destruction. The device went in the trash, and I’m still trying to come up with a reliable method for cooking eggs so I can peel them without them looking as though they’d been gnawed by rats. Might try steaming the next batch.

They fried the whites in a light batter then inserted the spicy yellow stuff. Yea, pretty good
Your problem is not the air-pressure gadgets, it’s the eggs you are using.
Whatever you do - don’t hard boil fresh eggs. They will be impossible to peel.
You need old eggs. Put them in cold water. Bring them to a boil. Turn them off and let them sit for 12 minutes. ( 13 min for big eggs)
Then put them in ice cold water. Easy to peel.

I do it over the sink, and maybe only 3 or 4 hard shakes.
I think the egg cracks and distorts, allowing the water to do its thing.
