There are many Christmas flash mob videos on YouTube. This one is my favorite. Over 100 singers participated. The look on the shoppers’ faces as they slowly realized what was going on - priceless!

Yes, yes, that's very good, that's wonderful, but I always thought a flash mob was to be unexpected, and from watching the people in this video, it's obvious they were there purposely for a show.

In other words, it was no surprise, at least to nearly all of them.

And while it's very nice, I wouldn't call it a "flash mob." I suspect the audience would react differently (although still positively) if it were truly a surprise, unexpected, to them.
