WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is holding talks with General Motors Co (GM.N) on the automakers petition to deploy a limited number of self-driving vehicles on American roads without steering wheels or other human controls, the head of the agency said on Friday.

Well, the Left thinks that parents are the BIGGEST THREAT to the proper raising of children, so I suspect they believe that drivers are the biggest threat to the operation of automobiles.
Will the car be called HAL?
Well, it does make it easier to control people.
Awesome- take away brakes too- what a fantastic idea now that we are letting criminal illegal aliens drive ‘legally’ now- Gee, what could possibly go wrong?
I wouldn’t trust them to run on rails.

My late Dad used to say that in the 1950’s and early 60’s, some American cars were sold without the steering wheel. That was selected later from catalogs. I could never figure out if he was joking about that or not.
I didn’t come from the sort of family where you could just say “Daddy, I think your lying, exaggerating or just making stuff up, which is it?” Until I had moved away from home and was in my 20’s, I would never have dared to say that.
