The authors of a new study suggest that science and technology professors should equalize average grades across classes in order to draw more women into those fields of study.
Inside Higher Ed reports that the researchers, examining administrative and course data from the University of Kentuckys archives from 2012, found that students both spent more time on STEM courses every weekabout an hourand that they also got lower grades in STEM classes than in others.

Or, under.
Women are already a majority in nearly all universities
The simple fact is - given the complete freedom to choose, women do not choose STEM or Engineering in large numbers.
Well ..... MATH IS HARD.
So these sexist loser “professors” believe women are idiots and need some sort of affirmative action. If this happens, then we would have unqualified people engineering things that likely would fail. Way to go, nitwit “professors”.
In other words, a study finds that women are intellectually not capable of mastering STEM subjects.
What a bunch of sexists.
The only reason that I didn’t have a straight A average in college is that I had to take non-science classes.
This is total BS. So ticked off to hear some idiot say this.
What do effin’ liberals have against excellence.
I went to an engineering college a loong time ago. 6:1 mail to female ratio.
The women did just fine and they had plenty of opportunities to get accepted and get jobs afterwards.
Totally bogus.
Time to stop it now.
Women don’t need lower expectations.
Translation: White men are already being discriminated against and left behind, so let’s leave them behind even further.
If this happens, then we would have unqualified people engineering things that likely would fail. Way to go, nitwit professors.

Sadly, for some members of some groups, this is already happening in medicine.
Changing STEM to STEAM apparently didn’t help.
This is not as stupid as it sounds.
STEM programs often use “weed-out” classes, where it’s very difficult to get a decent grade. Students who are mediocre, but committed as hell to succeeding in STEM will take the C-, or maybe even repeat the class several times to pass. Students who feel less like they belong, on the other hand, will drop the class if they fear the B will mess up their GPA. And women are much more likely to fall in that second category.
That’s not treating everyone equally or fairly.
equalize average grades across classes
They could also accomplish this by giving harder grades in non-STEM classes, to match the STEM standards. That way they could leave the grown-ups in peace, to get some work done.
You can bet that if this new grade system happens, most entities (local, state, and federal) which control bridge building and maintenance will require contractors to hire students from universities which complied with the new policy. Otherwise, they will not be allowed to bid.
Why is it only a problem when some category is overrepresented with whites or males? Nobody worries about the obvious extreme racism in the NBA or the evidence of gender bias in the HR department or the hair salon. These people must be waycisssssts!
I’m 75. Graduated with an engineering degree many, many years ago. Only girl in the class. Nothing is stopping women except themselves. Oh yeh...and had a 3.8. ran a successful business for over 40 years.
Apologies for the paywall link.

You beat me to the very image I was going to post!
What was the actual time delta for the 6 letters; weekly, daily, yearly?
