A Central Florida woman says a well-being check went terribly wrong when a police officer shot her in her bed during the check. The woman believes she was set up by her ex-boyfriend.

+1
Based on these facts, which may or may not be accurate given today’s piss poor journalists, the cops and the prosecutors are at fault. Simple as that.
The wrong person is on trial.
Anyway, back to this lady, the police don't care who they shoot. Just that they get to shoot someone or something. And in the police's defense, there was no dog to shoot, so that only left her. And she should have made better choices in boyfriends.
I added this story to Keyword “wellbeingcheck” - one other article on the list...
<<>> Man watches massive SWAT style raid on his house from local bar (cops call it a well-being check)
Police surrounded a mans house after one of his friends warned the cops that he might be suicidal. Fortunately (or unfortunately, depending on your perspective) the guy was down the street at a bar watching the whole thing on TV.
The mayor is calling it a very expensive ($75,000) hoax, but the cops are still investigating:
Cops are referring to this operation as a well-being check. They apparently take these well-being checks pretty seriously

Probably.
Note to criminals: if you enter our home to harm us, you will die.
Note to police: if you enter our home WITHOUT A WARRANT , you are criminals.
This is the law, in Indiana.
My local police have ended several “man with a gun” incidents WITHOUT shooting anyone.
Innocent! And what charges is the ex facing?
That escalated quickly
They did this by PICKING THE LOCK of the door between the garage and the house. The couple apparently had their alarm on and the husband got his shotgun.
Yep, you guessed it.
Maybe they should do "wellness checks" during the day by doing something radical like KNOCKING ON THE FRONT DOOR.
Don’t you love how the report of unsubstantiated suicide talk is solved by the authorities murdering the person.
To a man with only a hammer everything looks like a nail.
To a man with only a gun everything looks like a target.
Did anyone notice that they conveniently left the ex-boyfriend’s name out of the entire article? Why isn’t he being charged with filing a false report or something? Criminal mischief whatever.
The story seems pretty straightforward, for change. This is extremely disturbing to say the least. They need to publish the prosecutors name on this since he’s the one pursuing it. I’m bettin is another anti-gun leftist. I’m assuming since Winter Park is a city that the police chief is appointed and not elected as the sheriff’s are. That’ll tell you something to.
I know. AS far as I am concerned, you are preaching to the choir. It was not always like this, especially where I grew up, but now the police don’t care who they shoot as long as they can shoot someone. If you want to get rid of someone, as another FReeper posted, don’t hire a hit man, just call the police and they will do the job legally. That lady could have been almost anyone on this board.
Glad to hear that.
