Hillary Clinton's nearly 66 million votes in the 2016 election weren't enough to defeat Donald Trump. But just over 0.0001% of that could end Trump's presidency. That's the reality of what Trump faces if he is formally impeached by the House of Representatives later this week, as is expected, prompting a removal trial in the Senate.
In such a trial, the Constitution simply requires two-thirds of the Senate, in this case 67 senators, to vote to convict and remove -- then it's goodbye Trump.
Trump's fate lies in the hands of 20 GOP senators -- the number needed to join the 45 Democratic senators and two independent senators, who normally side with Democrats, to vote to convict him and end his presidency, assuming they all vote to remove Trump.
Yes, it's a huge long shot that 20 Republican senators will vote to send Trump packing, especially given Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell's statement last week saying there's "no chance" that Trump will be removed. But as a former trial lawyer, I can tell you that jurors don't always do as expected. And there's always the possibility that more incriminating evidence is revealed about Trump between now and the start of the trial. Even the most secure of US presidents would be unnerved at the prospect that their political demise is only 67 votes away. ]

I think many here just like to be upset :)
There is no purpose in posting this thread.
Let’s be honest. None.
CNN is just setting the stage for the eventual failure of this coup... by exaggerating how close they got.
“Trump’s fate lies in the hands of 20 GOP senators ...”
Which 20? It will be surprising if they even get one. Will they even be able to keep all the Democrats on board this sinking ship?
The problem is that the American people find this entire thing to be very boring. The Clinton impeachment was certainly not boring. The Nixon impeachment wasn’t boring either. A stained dress and a burglary make this thing look like a real clunker. The Democrats can’t get their base fired up with Latin phrases like “quid pro quo”, especially when there wasn’t one. The only thing more boring than this impeachment thing is their slate of possible candidates.
People like this writer never have to suffer any consequences for being wrong. Must be nice.
Actually, I think it’s CNN that is freaking out.
Dean Obeidallah is an American comedian. He is the host of SiriusXM Progress’ The Dean Obeidallah Show. A frequent contributor to CNN, his work has also appeared in various publications, including The New York Times, Los Angeles Times and Newsweek. Wikipedia
Even if (and that’s a huge IF) they did vote to remove him it will not make Hildabeast President.
The only ones freaking out are the morons at the Communist Nazi Network. The Nazis would of been proud of the propaganda that Don Lemon-Goebbels, Wolf Blitzer-Goebbels and Jake Tapper-Goebbels are spewing out there on a daily basis.
20 Republicans plus avoid any defections liike Manchin (WV) or Jones (AL).
exactly...they are projecting.
American citizens will not permit any “removal” since there’s been no evidence offered of any impeachable crimes
we are not witnessing the end of an administration
we are instead witnessing the (suicidal) end of the D political party
no doubt SorozNazi will fund a new commie-nazi extreme leftist party. but I think the American people will find it possible to organize a new pro-American party, too...
CNN probably to delusional to freak out...?

Upset no.
Laughing yes.
Youre just sick of it all.
I get like that too but, it just makes me want to beg everyone to gather up at CNN with pitch forks and ax handles....but alas, no takers.
Oh, you mean it’s CNN who’s freaking out.
“What the hell else are they planning after this is over?”
It’ll never be over for them. And I think what they’ll have to plan is lethal. Pray for the POTUS.
He should submit that to prayer.
CNN is forgetting how politics works.
There is no time limit for voting on the articles of impeachment. McConnell will not bring it to the floor without >70 votes in the bag. Impeachment is deader than dead right now, they are just in denial.
Worst time to vote on it...it will be lost in the holidays, family visits, etc. Unless the Dems want it buried...which may be the case.
Yes, it is a fact that PDJT is 67 votes away from being an ex-President.
Here are some more facts, Dean Obeidallah, one as ridiculous as your ‘fact’ and the others, unfortunately very true.
If your uncle had ‘XX’ chromosomes, he would be your aunt.
Another fact is, NO communist/socialist states have EVER provided for their citizens the way a democratic, free market economy has.
Yet another fact: People kill people whether they have guns available or not. People kill, and have killed each other since the dawn of time in any and all conceivable ways.
Yet another fact: CNN and the MSM are brainwashed into believing that ANYTHING conservative is evil. Related to that fact, ‘journalism’ schools were infiltrated by communists since at least the ‘40s.
You’re had your 15 minutes of fame, Dean Obeidallah, now just go away.
So someone answer this for me.
Bubba Klinton was “Impeached”, but NOT removed from office.
When did impeachment become the same as removal from office?
Unless I slept through a constitutional amendment they are two separate actions.
