Philippines earthquake pegged at magnitude 6.9; collapse of 3-story building reported

A powerful magnitude 6.9 earthquake in southern Philippines killed at least one person Sunday and caused the collapse of a three-story building, sparking a desperate effort to reach an unknown number of people who may have been trapped inside, officials said.
The temblor sent holiday shoppers fleeing from malls in a panic, with people evacuating homes and other buildings as well, according to reports.
The quake struck an area about 3.7 miles northwest of Padada town in Davao del Sur province at a depth of 18 miles, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said.
President Rodrigo Duterte, who is from Davao, was in the city when the quake struck but was said to be OK.

Thanks for the update
I follow youtubers from there, part of my bucket list plans to visit. But with multiple earthquakes of the 6.x+ range the last two months, and a HUGH typhoon last week. Now this earthquake today. Is something to think about

It was scary bro. I thought the house would never stop shaking. It was centered 45 miles from here. Lots of broken windows in the malls. This is the second worst I have ever experienced. The worst, was the 1989 San Francisco quake. Water, electricity and internet were still working. No tsunami danger.

Thank all of you. Still feeling aftershocks, but we survived. I really hate earthquakes. 😁 My wife was in her college class, when it struck. They let them out, and a normal 15 minute taxi ride home, took two hours. Bad traffic. 👎
