Thought one of the more interesting scenes in FURY about an army tank unit in Germany during the last months, they come upon a village and the tank commander takes the new kid into a town restaurant, it shows the folks all dressed up for a party as the Americans advanced, they ate drank partied and had cyanide for desert.

That is not a "snarky reference". It is exactly what Hitler promised them. The Germans, after losing WWI were economically destroyed (reparations) and he promised them a way to become the once-proud country they had been again.

1. Why doesn’t it mention the cause of the war in the invasion of Poland by Hitler and Stalin?

2. Why does it make scant mention the cause of the Russian hostility - the fact that Hitler invaded the USSR for “living space” - and therefore slaughtered Poles and Russians?

3. Why doesn’t it mention the fact that the Germans knew that they’d be better off being captured by the Americans or British than by the Russians - but the Nazis prevented people - even civilians - from trying to get to the Western line?

There was a woman in our group of Hungarian friends who was always deferred to, despite her often having a bit too much to drink or being a bit too crude. It was not until late in life we found out the reason.
