This type of criminal act should be made a felony. This is ridiculous.

When I was a kid two guys stole a canoe from our local Sears store by just picking it up and carrying it over their heads. It seemed too obvious, so no one questioned it until they had already gotten away.

Good old California laws that encourage theft

Here’s a good link to describe the thresholds for charges:

If that’s the mall in Richmond CA, been there. It’s as upscale as shopping in West L.A.. When this happened back years ago at a store I worked for, all we did was get the license plates of the cars when they did the escape. I’m sure they’re not taking the bus with all those clothes..

Agreed.

Stealing 20 bucks worth of stuff should be a misdemeanor the first time. After that, felony.

Stealing THIS MUCH? I thought it was a felony.

How can you even be interested in such a boring story, when with just a simple click you could be on:

“The SF neighborhoods with the most feces removal requests in 2019”

Can’t you just wait for the day liberals run the whole country!!!

If anybody needs me I’ll be loading.

As soon as I read the headline I played “guess their race”.

Right again.

Easy peasy.

I don’t think I have ever had to call anyone for feces removal.

Has to be valued over $950.00. California legislators considered holding people like this accountable to be cruel.

Apparently in that cess pool of a city, business owners cannot stop somebody from taking a dump in front of their business.

It’s a ‘human right’ you know.

It’s Richmond.

Stew Pet Amish know they won’t be prosecuted for theft under $975.00

However, that employee who attempted to tackle the straggler will be fired promptly...

I'd think that stealing racks of clothes from Sears has to be a really low-yield crime though.

I mean they stole, what maybe $250 worth of crap from SEARS?

The street value must number in the dozens of dollars.

"Psst.. hey bud... wanna buy some action slacks, cheap? Got 'em right here in my trunk. Five bucks a throw."

If that’s the mall in Richmond CA, been there. It’s as upscale as shopping in West L.A.. When this happened back years ago at a store I worked for, all we did was get the license plates of the cars when they did the escape. I’m sure they’re not taking the bus with all those clothes..Besides that there are always video cameras to see who did what.

I went into our local CVS to by something. As I paid I apparently dropped a $100.00 bill. I didn't notice it until a week later. So I went to the store and asked about it.
1. Some woman DID see me drop it. She didn't touch it.
2. I asked the clerk if anyone turned it in. No one did.
3. SOMEONE finally did turn it in.
4. The manager checked out the video of that day and he recognized me and SAW me drop the bill.
5. The clerk called him and he came downstairs and handed me my $100.00 bill.

Also that "losing" day I turned from the cash register toward the ATM standing there and a $20.00 bill lay there UNTAKEN.
I picked it up, turned to the clerk and asked her about it. She wouldn't touch it. So, I said that if anyone came in claiming that the ATM shortchanged them by $20.00 I had it and would be glad to give it to them.

.

.

.

By the way, the manager's name was Ahmed. I have NO idea what an Arab is doing in MY city REALLY, REALLY, REALLY from from his "home."

Or, alternatively, on that same page, you could also click on this worms on the beach story.   (And, no, it isn't about Anthony Weiner!)
