U.S. Womens soccer star Megan Rapinoe shamed Sports Illustrated for a lack of diversity even as she delivered her acceptance speech for the magazines Sportsperson of the Year award.
Rapinoe took the podium Monday at the magazines award ceremony, but she took them to task for only having had four female persons of the year saying, Is it truth that Im only the fourth woman deserving of this award? I dont think so, Mediaite reported.
Rapinoe went on scolding SI: Is it true, so few writers of color deserve to be featured in this publication? No. Is it true, so few womens voices deserve to be heard and deserve to be read in this publication? I dont think so.
Sports Illustrated should not have expected simple gratitude from Rapinoe as she has used award speeches to attack her benefactors several times before.

I would be red flagged if I told you how much I despise this woman.
Watch her “I deserve this trophy” video. I wanna wretch.
thinking about getting a t shirt that says
“Sport is the opiate for the masses”
that’s exactly what it is. the powers that be don’t want you thinking about what they are doing. they want you to be reading about how the patriots cheated this time.
Go to hell you insufferable b****!
oh, and MEEgan will not make it to 50 before swallowing a handful of pills or shooting her girltoy and then herself.
“I’ve tried and I cannot think of another human (not even Hillary) who is as covetous, as egomaniacal, as pompous, as proud, and as self-righteous as this thing is. “
Typical gay. They are all like this.
I was never a big sports fan (enjoyed playing much more than watching, and I’m not even athletic), but I certainly had more time to follow them many years ago when I had far fewer cares in the world.
The only people I deal with today who can talk for more than five minutes about sports are 1) childless young and middle-aged adults, and 2) empty nesters - probably because both sets have a lot less “cares in the world”.
She doesn’t realize you’re not supposed to bite the hand that feeds you. These entitled activists are so entitled they can’t even be grateful when raised to such levels.
Truth!
I used to routinely discuss pro sports with my colleagues at work. The latest NBA or NFL news or games or whatever.
Not anymore. In the corporate world, controversial subjects like politics or religion are avoided. Since pro-sports is now an anti-American divisive political hot potatoe - we don't talk about team sports anymore.
Remember when there used to be a thing called “Sportsmanship”?
Maybe it was something from back in the 20th century when I was young. Doesn’t seem to exist anymore. If it does it is no longer relevant.
Not to mention that men naturally dominate sports. Could this girl make it much less excel in real soccer?
That’s a great point I hadn’t even considered; politicizing sports has made it an untouchable topic - thank you Colin Kaepernick!
Over the decades I’ve watched baseball just disappear from the radar in discussions, as older white Americans attrited out of the workforce; younger Americans regard it as almost as foreign as soccer now.

I agree. Growing up we were football crazy in the fall and baseball crazy in the spring.
I remember when literally every food store had Topps baseball cards in the checkout aisle. Have not seen baseball cards for sale other than hobby shops for years.
We took our young nephew to a Pittsburgh Pirates game a few years back. First time he had ever seen a baseball game. Never watched one of tv either.
Yes, the card packs with the rock-hard gum stick!
We had a card shop in town, that eventually became a collectibles shop, then finally went out of business. I knew the owner, and was shooting the breeze with him one day when someone walked in with boxes of baseball cards. The owner gave him a low offer, and when the prospective seller balked, the owner gestured towards stacks of binders with similar cards in plastic sheets and said nobody was looking to buy them.
I’m from San Antonio. We only have one pro team to root for. The Spurs.
And I’ve always been a life long Spurs Fan. From the George ‘Ice Man’ Gervin days, to David Robinson to Tim Duncan and more - I’ve been there. Even deeply respected Coach Popovich.
Not anymore. He’s gone bat bleep liberal. And he is a former USAF Captain!
SI will be out of business in a few years, anyway.
Ill-mannered t*** needs a trip to the wood shed.
