One of the jackals tried to grab the python and the head of the python lunged toward the jackal, allowing the Honey badger to break free of the python’s grip. I don’t think the jackal was “rescuing” the badger. He wanted to eat the snake.

Looks to me that the honey badger had everything under control. Python never had a real squeeze on the honey badger. Honey badger’ very sharp teeth and claws were more than a match for the python.
