"What happened to Drudge?"A lot of people have been asking that question lately. If you talk to conservatives these days, you'll hear that Matt Drudge's eponymous news aggregation site has gone over to the dark sidethat Matt's joined the anti-Trump resistance. And now, Rasmussen Reports, an arguably reputable polling operation, is calling Drudge out on Twitter, even suggesting that the site has been sold.
The whole kerfuffle appears to have begun at the end of November, when the Bongino Report, touted as a Trump-friendly alternative to Drudge, launched. Bongino taunted Drudge with a pair of tweets:
Rasmussen heralded Bongino's announcement, retweeting a now-deleted post from the Drudge Report account blasting the new site.
Then on Saturday, Citizen Free Press, another conservative news aggregator, announced on Twitter that they're the "new Drudge Report." Rasmussen responded with a bombshell worthy of a great big Drudge siren: "We don't think Matt is there anymore, CFP. Word is he sold, just waiting for confirmation. Now that will be a story."

He’s ‘sold out’........................
It started, IMHO, as far back as five years ago. I only visited for a few days after the 2016 election to see if he’d eat any crow.
Liberty Daily and Whatfinger work nicely as does Bongino’s new aggregator.
Didn’t Drudge change his Twitter bio to saying the Drudge Report “was” run by Matt Drudge? Has he since changed that?
The Swamp and Deep State have long tentacles, tons of money, control of MSM and they are using all to take over our country and erase the Constitution.
It would make sense. I do not think Drudge changed to a (ptui-ptui) liberal, he just got tired. Why not bail and enjoy the rest of one’s life?
There are others who will hopefully have his talents and continue the fight (I’ve got three alternate sites - none of which are yet as good as Drudge was - but hopefully they’ll improve.)
In any case, the bottom of the intellectual barrel journalists are doing a fine job of making Obamaholes of themselves, so perhaps things are not as bad as we imagine.
As a for instance, does not NYT now bring laughter? What a collection of clowns.
I think Some media conglomerate bought if for an obscene amount of money and the agreement was his silence.

Who cares?
Drudge worked his ass off and cashed in. Many of us would do the same.
I read here, a couple of months ago, that Drudge sold the site to Google. It’s a believable rumor. Haven’t been to Drudge in months.
Yes, his silence and his name. Why else delete the tweet. I bet they contacted him to take it down.

That’s fake news. Drudge didn’t sell. He just changed advertising agencies. The new one has troubling ties to google, though.
I suspect he is letting his Trump hating homo pool boys run the shop now. That is all.

True. Free enterprise at work: Have an idea > Create a product > Produce the product > Market the product > Develop a customer base > Expand and nurture the customer base > Make money > Sell the business and enjoy life.
Once the business is sold, the new owner is free to do with it whatever the new owner wishes. Again, free enterprise at work.
Of course the customer doesn’t like the product the new owner is producing, the customer can stop consuming the product or even go into competition with the new owner.
This is why I rarely go to Druge any more. The new owners are free to do as they wish. But so am I.
As of Friday he was still treating us to the latest news from the world of gay male porn stars if that is any indication.
Everybody wants to be the next DrudgeReport but few really understand why Drudge was so successful.
Yep, he offloaded the site for a pretty penny and signed a non-disclosure agreement on the way out. He knew it would soon be common knowledge that site was no longer under his control. Don’t be surprised if he surfaces later with some new project — after a nice long vacay with his boyfriend. I love that the site’s numbers are tanking! Get woke, go broke.
