A Tesla on autopilot rear-ended a Connecticut trooper’s vehicle early Saturday as the driver was checking on his dog in the back seat, state police said.
Police said they had responded to a disabled vehicle that was stopped in the middle of Interstate 95. While waiting for a tow, the self-driving Tesla came down the road.
After striking the trooper's vehicle, the driver in the Tesla then rear-ended the disabled vehicle before stopping.

I hope not, the dog is smarter than the driver because it was in the back seat.
The liability issue will be the end of “auto-pilot” vehicles. Book it.
So who gets the “ failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident“ charge?

99.99% chance it was a user error — they didn’t have the self driving engaged.
The Tesla guy fist hits the cop car, then hits the disabled car the cop was checking on, then continues a few hundred feet further before being stopped by another cop.
I just hate it when that happens.

I do not think auto-piloting cars are that far along.

That kind of ruins the idea of being able to nap on long trips with the car on autopilot if you can be cited for reckless driving. The first time that someone gets killed by a Tesla on autopilot, Tesla will be sued for a katrillion bucks.
Anyone who trusts or even uses one of these TESLA’s is an idiot. Just drive 5 miles or less and see all the idiots who do not even know that faster traffic is on the right. Our country has been invaded by Muslims and 3rd world idiots with no skills living off us.
