Aviation Gin enlists Peloton commercial actress to mock exercise brand's ad

Aviation Gin, the liquor brand owned by actor Ryan Reynolds, mocked Peloton’s widely criticized holiday commercial on Friday with a little help from the same actress who appeared in the controversial ad.

In an Aviation Gin commercial posted to Reynolds’ Twitter account, the actress sits at a bar with two friends in front of martini glasses. The friends console the actress, who offers a toast (“To new beginnings”) and proceeds to chug her entire glass in one sip.

“Exercise bike not included #AviationGin,” Reynolds wrote alongside the commercial. The ad itself is titled “The Gift That Doesn’t Give Back.” The name is also a riff on Peloton’s commercial, which is called “The Gift That Gives Back.”

The actress in Aviation Gin’s commercial is the same one from Peloton’s commercial, a source familiar with the matter confirmed to FOX Business.

I saw the Peloton ad once. Don’t know what the fuss was. She wants to exercise, tone her body and lose some uncomfortable fat. What is the big deal?

Watch for Pelaton to try to sue her. Do the actors in ads have any responsibility to avoid mocking the products they push?

It’s free advertising for Peleton.

Yea that gin ad was one of the stupidest things I’ve seen in a while.
Next to anything with Nancy Pelosi and the democRATS of course!

This controversy over the ad is the latest ‘dumbest thing I’ve ever heard’. That said, this move by Ryan Reynolds is hilarious.

The Gin commercial

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H2t7lknrK28

Implication is she just left a controlling abuser (”You’re safe here now”, “To new beginnings”). Feminists seem to think the only reason a woman would want to stay in shape is because she’s afraid of her husband’s reaction to her getting fat.

The ad is brilliant in that you can read anything into it you want.

The Peloton ad reflects that staying married to your original spouse is the new "status symbol" for the white middle class and along with this, maintaining your shape.

A lot of people are offended by this, and the concept of getting and staying married altogether as "cisheteronormative" or whatever gobbledygook. The anger out there towards this ad reflects an underlying anger towards happy, healthy "straight, white" marriages.

Note to Peleton: With a couple of scene changes, zero dialogue, and a different soundtrack, I could have made that a great ad. But you'd need some big brass ones to make and air it. If you ever find a pair, give me a ping. 😄

Check out the agency that produced the ad. Might give you a different perspective. :-)

I think a lot of the backlash is due to the popularity of “body positivity,” which is all about obese people celebrating their obesity. They don’t want to have to diet or exercise, the way thin people do to maintain their health. So, heaven forbid an ad that appeals to health-conscious people!

So... she left an "abusive" hubby who supported what he thought were her fitness goals... so she could be alone and single, and go drinking with her gf's.

Her next husband will be an alcoholic, obviously, and she might become one herself... but she's liberated now. /s
