My friend Maureen Callahan (who, like me, is a longtime fan of Howard Sterns celebrity interviews, which elicit more frankness than anybodys) says Hillary Clintons appearance on the Stern show amounts to her biggest hint yet that shes mulling a 2020 presidential run. Clinton is ostensibly on tour to promote one of those book projects I didnt say books slapped together by ghostwriters that she and her daughter keep putting their names on for the apparent sole purpose of giving them a hook for television appearances. As Callahan notes, on the Stern show Clinton more or less dropped the pretense that she was there to promote a book. She was there to promote herself, and as Callahan also notes, Sterns style provides a nearly unique opportunity for anyone who wants to come across as human and genuine. Stern thinks that Clintons avoidance of his show in 2016 cost her the election. She certainly could have used some help in the human-and-genuine department. Stern reaches exactly the sort of audience Hillary needs to hate her a bit less.
Where I differ from Callahan is on this point: Clinton isnt doing anything new. She keeps saying the same thing in slightly different ways.

As a candidate, Clinton cannot be investigated.
I don’t think anyone is going to ‘beg’ her to run. She was a lousy, unfit candidate four years ago, and would be worse now.
Precedent was set in 2016. Oh yes she can be investigated.
Considering the fact that running in 2016 nearly killed her, I don’t think an additional 4 years of age is going to serve her well.
The beautiful thing is we still have about six more months of Democratic primaries were going to get about 10 more of these stories and all of them are going to be completely meaningless
Hillary has not stopped thinking about how to take absolute power since the day she decided to hitch her wagon to Bill, despite all his baggage. She’s not capable of giving up, not after all she put up with to get her turn at the helm.
LOL...she only thinks about it every waking moment, and dreams about it at night...so 24/7.
She’s been working out. Weights. Roadwork. Sprints. Had good time in Thanksgiving 5k.
She’s in as soon as Biden folds his tent. It’s already been decided by the Back Room, just like last time. They know the rest are sure losers too, so why not?
Cankles 2020.
Running Hillary Clinton in 2020 would be like running a Yugo in the Daytona 500.
Hey, if Joe Biden can run for a third time, why not the Hildebeast.
She was rejected in 2008, 2012 and 2016.....why would she be accepted in 2020?
This is a familiar pre-1968 scenario. Back then, the nomination was decided at the convention, so you could jump in at the last minute and still hope to win. In 1960, Kennedy and Humphrey entered the primaries, and Symington, Johnson, and Stevenson stayed on the sidelines, hoping delegates would give them the nomination. In 1968, I don't think Humphrey entered a single primary, but he still won the nomination (relying in part on "favorite son" candidates in various primary states, but picking up delegates in the many non-primary states).
So much has changed since then that it's hard to imagine a candidate swooping in late and walking off with the nomination.
But a girl can dream, can't she?
Of course she is.
What possible benefit could running Hillary have to the Democrats? All I see are negatives.
