I dont want a lot for Christmas but for some, the one thing they do want is to hear the song again!
A poll across the UK has found that the most annoying Christmas song out there isnt Jingle Bells or Dominick the Donkey or even Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer but rather Mariah Careys All I Want For Christmas Is You," Variety reported.
Huawei, a mobile phone company, conducted the survey.
The Carey Christmas Classic may be the number one most annoying, but some other songs you hear on constant rotation on the radio also made the list, Variety reported.
1. All I Want For Christmas Is You by Mariah Carey
2. Do They Know Its Christmas? by Band-Aid
3. I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday, by Wizzard
4. Merry Xmas Everybody by Slade
5. Last Christmas by Wham!
One of these years Springsteen is going to finally pass that stone.
I gather you don’t like the song” Jingle Bells” as well?
At least Lennon's has a nice chord progression and melody. One just has to ignore the words. It's like "Imagine" in that respect.
Never heard of those in the list.
However I do smile when hearing the “two front teeth” one.
Our kiddo lost her two front teeth in one of those weird mama intuition moments with me running out to say don’t do that but was too late by a split second. Blood was everywhere but what she cried about was the Tooth Fairy wouldn’t come because the teeth were lost at the bottom of the river. That happened during the summer and there was no sign of new teeth at Christmas break. One evening, she visited Santa and told him she wanted her two front teeth for Christmas. The next morning both new front teeth were halfway in.
On my list too.
Bah, humbug!
Last night an elf came into my room
Last night an elf came jumping to my room
She said Ive got tinsel youll love
and Christmas lights for above
In the midnight hour she hung more, more ,more
With her elf hands hung more, more, more
In the midnight hour she hung more, more, more
More,more,more
She dont like plain trees with no lights
they need tinsel and lights to make it right
She put an angel on the top
I couldnt make her ever stop
In the midnight hour she hung more, more ,more
With her elf hands hung more, more, more
In the midnight hour she hung more, more, more
More,more,more
apologies to Billy Idol
One of my wife’s favorites...
And that annoying "So this is Christmas" by that wife beater and child abuser commie, john lennon.
My wife’s GBC got universal praise at Thanksgiving and was the only serving dish scraped clean at the table :D
Their version of Silent Night reminds me too much of a Christmas spent in Pleiku. That was the loneliest time I ever felt in my life.
Our family loves GBC. My wife uses cream of onion instead of cream of mushroom though.
I absolutely loath every variant of "Last Christmas" too but somehow every single time I get in my car in the last week and scan through radio stations at least one of the Christmas themed stations is playing it.
I do not understand why they push hard on the worst and most obnoxious songs that just happen to have the word Christmas in them instead of playing the good Christmas music. It seems like almost every musician or band does a Christmas album at some point, and while the vast majority is trash there must be enough decent stuff to play days and days without repeating. So why do they play same tired songs over and over that were never good to begin with?
Hair metal on my phone and a set of headphones is how I survive venturing out into retail space at this time of year.
I like Allan Sherman's version: "On the first day of Christmas my true love gave to me, a Japanese transistor radio."
Can’t believe no one’s mentioned any song by Mannheim Steamroller.

Just because Mariah can screech out a High C; doesn’t mean she should. It’s like nails on a chalkboard.
