First time posting in nearly a decade. You guys are always way ahead of the curve on everything so I am probably wasting your time but I stumbled upon a website opensecrets.org you can read all the financial disclosures of pretty much any and all politicians. I have looked up Pelosi and Schiff so far but I am thinking this could be a decent resource to uncover all kinds of mischief. Wanted to know if this is old news and/or if anyone has ever found anything of interest. 😊
Interesting. Actually, in some cases (Darrell Issa) jaw dropping.
If it doesn’t show the (probable) hundreds of millions stolen and stashed away tax-free by Obama, Clinton and Biden, it’s useless.
Wow! That is unbelievable! His 2017 Financial disclosure is 70 pages long.
I use it all the time. I knew someone who claimed to be a conservative, but opensecrets showed heavy donations to liberals, exclusively.
Another good one is the wayback machine at archive.org, if they track a website (like say John Kerry’s campaign website) it shows every change. If Wayback has the website, you can look for hasty deletions, shifts, additions.
That’s pretty cool! Sounds like opensecrets.org and Wayback machine might be the most useful things the internet has produced, aside from Free Republic of course.
At no point in history has any government ever wanted its people to be defenseless for any good reason ~ nully's son
Nut-job Conspiracy Theory Ping!
To get onto The Nut-job Conspiracy Theory Ping List you must threaten to report me to the Mods if I don't add you to the list...
Yes. Long used as a resource. Good data.
Awesome sculpture. Care to post a link?
I have spent some time there, and since I have 1000s of stock symbols memorized it is easy for me to see what is going on. Many of them look like shell corporations (look for LLCs). Most listed stocks are CA-based (silicon valley) tech companies. Some of the Repubs tend to have oil stocks also. You can see what they bought and when, and also how much each company contributed to which candidate.
Do you think there is anything shady hidden in plain sight?
I was just excited because I found it by accident and there is SO MUCH information. Unfortunately my cynical side tells me that even though they might be dumb, they can’t be dumb enough to put anything damning out there for public consumption :-/ If we could only look at the disclosures of all of their relatives.
Everyone could have their own reaction to art pieces.
To me, that tree sculpture is sort of scary. I imagine an Owl or a Turkey Vulture sitting on the top branch looking down on me with glowing eyes.
Someone else might see a tree like the one they used to climb or sit under as a child during reading hour, one surrounded by acres of bright orange poppies.
Interesting, especially the people who went from very low worth or negative worth to now being worth several million bucks. That alone should tell us how corrupt congress is.
It used o be The Thomas Library, now it’s congress.gov, I think, you can get House and Senate bill texts, floor discussions from Congressional Record, other good stuff.
So when someone shrieks that this proposed law will require us all to turn in our woodstoves and buy Monsanto seeds, you can look up the actual proposed law and at least shriek in an informed way (both examples actually happened but the law texts mentioned nothing about seeds or stoves)
100% . Unfortunately I was NOT able to find ANYTHING on AOC....would have been amuse since she appears to have had a pretty swift rags to riches journey.
**amusing
