I wanted to say that
With all due respect, the statistics in that study are overstated and are not consistent with current data.
Current data from the Alzheimer’s Association are that “3 percent of people age 65-74, 17 percent of people age 75-84, and 32 percent of people age 85 and older have Alzheimer’s dementia”.
I would bet that data is also overstated. Dementia is NOT an inevitable consequence of aging.
That said, it is a tragic and critically important issue, and hopefully there will be advancements that can prevent and/or treat/reverse the process.
In the USA, 78 is life expectancy

That’s an ‘average’ based on life tables, and is a moving target. Nobody gets out alive, but the effects of age vary markedly from individual to individual.
I heard a Rabbi talk about duration of life. He said that the simple designation of our lives is the date - date format that defines our birth date and our date of death. He said that as long as the right side of that hyphen remained empty, we could still do useful things with our lives. I think that is a wonderful way to think about it.

No, there doesn’t need to be an ‘age limit’.
There needs to be a *good sense* limit - which ‘we the people’ - at least enough of us - are perfectly capable of enforcing on our own.
There’s an age requirement to be president, & there should be an age requirement when you can no longer be president

That’s not logical. We recognize that people require a certain level of life experience to minimally qualify for the position; but how can ever more experience *disqualify* someone?
If you believe that, then you are willing to cut out many very wise and capable men and women who may happen to be over your arbitrary age limit, whatever it is.
I have very mixed feelings about term limits. It seems to make good sense, when so many of these elected people become entrenched in corruption.
On the other hand, the People have certain rights - and one of them is to vote for the candidate that they find most fit for the position - and they shouldn’t be limited in that right.
(The solution to every one of our problems is for The People - who under our Constitution possess all of the real power - to become more aware, proactive, and courageously involved.)
