Karen Gillan has revealed male co-stars have had to stand on boxes so they don't appear shorter than her on screen. The former Doctor Who star, 32, who is 5'11, also admitted that on some film sets, bosses have gone so far as to ban her from wearing high heels so she does not tower over her male co-stars. Speaking on the Beauty Fashion Friends podcast, Karen said she has '100 per cent' been stopped from wearing heels in the past.

I’m a science fiction fan so those shows are right up my alley. Other than the movies all her acting work was in England and probably didn’t get released in the US.

ABC gave her a sitcom, trying to shoehorn her into a ditzy, comedic role and with an American accent. It was awful. They canned it after 7 episodes. Not letting her speak with her own accent is criminal.
