K-pop is short for Korean Pop music. Japan and Korea took the boy band/girl group concept and put it on steroids. There are are over 50 active boy bands and 50 active girl groups, known as idol groups. 2019 is looking at about 28 group debuts and 2 or 3 sub-unit or super groups. In Korea, the company you debut is almost as important as the group. It is up front that the members are under a contract (there is always at least one ongoing lawsuit between and an idol member). By law contracts last up to seven years and are always to the advantage of the company. I could go on as I am a fan of a couple of idol groups. Here is a well known classic: Sorry Sorry

Awful. I agree with a prior poster who talked about the religious cults intertwined with much of the Korean elite/establishment (this is the case for much of the ‘right’ wing, while the lefties in power now are full on NoKo sympathizers) - and the central role played by Epstein-like patriarchy networks as well.

The entire aesthetic of K-pop is centered on an almost pedophiliac preoccupation with the grooming and sexual exploitation of young girls. (And boys!)

South Korea has such a dark side. It is supposed to be the most Christianized country in Asia in terms of religious identification, but clearly not the most ‘Westernized.’ If anything - it has adopted most of the bad and too little of the good dimensions of a Western/American value system and retained too much of the toxic Eastern ones.

I do pray for more darkness to be exposed of course, ultimate healing and reunion with North Korea. (Korea’s perpetual inferiority complex plus PTSD from Japanese occupation plus the DMZ rift are the sources of much of its collective angst.)
