My nemesis is getting the rolled out pie dough into the pie dish without tearing. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

No issues for me. I eat out on Thanksgiving Day.
But I greatly appreciate the hard work and skill
of preparing and hosting a Thanksgiving meal for
their families.

Once rolled out, roll the dough onto the rolling pin and unroll over the pie plate.
Good luck!

Issues?

Are there enough pellets in my smoker for the 18lb bird? Yes
Is the weather going to cooperate? Don’t care, smoker is on covered patio
Did the family make it in to prepare the sides? Yup 100% present
Are all the RSVPs going to make it? Their loss if they don’t. :)

Happy Thanksgiving to all my Freeper friends!

I'm not making Thanksgiving Dinner for the first time in 5 years. I'm so glad I'm invited elsewhere!

Posting this with the appreciation of all those who struggle to put Thanksgiving Dinner on the table and do it well. "I feel your pain!"

Don’t shoot, but I have to recommend one “convenience food.” If you want scalloped potatoes as a side without the time it takes, the Main St. Bistro refrigerated ones are as good as most homemade.

No one here likes turkey and we’re sick of ham. That’s my dilemma. That and the other cuts of meat that are on sale this week are either high dollar or junk cuts. Maybe I can talk my neighbor/buddy out of some venison.

Beef tips on rice. Reasonably priced meat cuts and...who doesn’t like rice and gravy?

Anyone have a reliable recipe for yeast-rising rolls, like the ones my mom used to make?

I always cook our TG Day meal, as my wife is from Japan and didn’t learn our food growing up. It’ll be Chicken this year as it will be the first Thanksgiving without one of my daughters - so just 3 of us.

My younger daughter is attending an Osaka Art School for a college exchange semester.

My older daughter will be returning home after her first 6 months of “real” employment following her college graduation in May. I’m looking forward to the stories of her trials and tribulations.

She’s already told me on the phone: “Dad, now I understand what you were talking about all those times - the hard work, the frustration, the idiots, no one at home understanding ... nothing like the easy stuff I dealt with at the grocery store and fast food place.”

I’m still going to catch hell from mom and my siblings for not being “home”, but I just started a new job and can’t swing the 8 hour drive.

My mom didn’t use premade crusts, but I clearly remember her using the rolling pin to move the crust into the pan. It was sort of draped over the rolling pin, then gently transferred to the pan and manually coaxed into place. She always said her crusts weren’t picture perfect, but they were very tasty and flaky all the same. As always, she was right. She made a “peaches and cream” pie that was out of this world. I don’t suppose any of you freepers have the recipe . . . ?

My mom always used premade dough for her Thanksgiving and Christmas rolls. I thonk the brand name was Bridgeford. The entire fambly was mad for mom’s “gooey rolls.”
