In Future Wars, the U.S. Military will have nowhere to hide.
Foreign Policy ^ | 11/20/19 | Michael Beckley

New technologies enable Russia and China to destroy U.S. bases and logistics networks—including those on the homeland.

For most of its history, the United States has had the luxury of fighting its wars from safe havens. No major international battles have taken place on the continental United States in more than two centuries, and its offshore territory has not suffered a serious attack since Japan bombed Pearl Harbor in World War II. For the past few decades, even U.S. bases on foreign soil have faced few conventional military threats.

The unprecedented immunity has enabled a particular American way of war that involves massive assaults launched from nearly invulnerable and geographically removed sanctuaries.

I know little of these types of subjects, but it strikes me that China has been allowed TOO close. Parking containers within striking distance of DC for a purpose such as the article speaks of, first strike on the US.

Check out this link. It is also within the above story.

“Parking containers within striking distance of DC for a purpose such as the article speaks of, first strike on the US.”

You know, if they would restrict it to DC, and hit it with about 15 nukes, we could call that a win-win. The monuments are marble, we could scrub off the scorch marks.

Don’t forget Mehico. There are millions of Mehican patriots lurking around our country and inside our military just waiting for the clarion call to attack.

My biggest fear is that some damned continuity of government plan would actually work and about 2 or 3 weeks later, the DC SOBs would come crawling out of the rubble saying “Don’t worry people, your Federal government has survived and we are back in charge”.

Don’t be too quick to judge. I live in Wyoming and a good number of our Mexican neighbors would be the first people to head out and kill any invading army from Mexico.

Unlike Americans our loyal Mexican neighbors are not going to be hampered by rule of engagement or laws or silly stuff like that.

Yup we had to watch them carefully in the past as the germans wanted to get them starting something on the southern/western us.

I’d think they’d be ignored, and their local supporters... ahem... disregarded.

Satellites. ICBM’s. Computers. Cruise Missiles. Submarines. Aircraft Carriers. Jets. There hasn’t been a place to hide for nearly three-quarters of a century. Everyone, everyday, wakes, goes to work, lives on the battlefield. I don’t know what this guy is just waking up to...

We just have to make sure the President has invited his House Intelligence Committee defense team down to Mar-A-Lago for the weekend...

Sorry, but I had to stop reading the article halfway through. The “threats” of AI, robotics, hyperweapons being unleashed upon the continental US applies ten-fold in the other direction. I agree that China has been allowed, even encouraged as long ago as the Clinton administration, to ‘catch up’ to us militarily. But the rest of the world is woefully vulnerable to the US. Our UAV capabilities alone allow us to strike enemies from distances and with weaponry that a generation ago was unimaginable. The idea that our high-performance aircraft are being lined up like it was a 1940 is laughable.

So far in my travels immigrants who’ve done it the right way love this country more than born citizens.

I was referring to Mehican patriots. Not Mexican Americans. There is a difference.

Never forget our Boomer subs armed with enough multiple target reentry vehicles (MIRVs). Just one of these subs can take out any nation on earth as a functional nation. We have many of these subs. These subs lurk in the depths of the oceans and beneath the arctic with but one mission which is to remain not detected until they rain nuclear hell on an enemy.

If each and every missile base and bomber on our homeland were taken out by a first strike, those subs would end the game. There would be no winners. Both sides would be destroyed.

No rational enemy will attack us as we will not attack an adversary such as Russia. There are no winners.

Face your fear. Is there any doubt? Any whatsoever?

The main focus of US govt. is perpetuating control. Working with an unlimited budget and magic technology 24/7/52 for decades you can be certain they’re up to speed for every contingency.

The ONLY way China or Russia could project power onto the Continental US is with missiles.

If the US sees incoming from either of those countries or their assets, it’s full-on nuclear war.

Each Trident boat carries 288, 100kt warheads. That’s about the same number, maybe more, that China has.

And each of them will hit within 100ft of their target.

Nobody can stop the launch orders reaching them, and every test firing has been perfect.

550 Minuteman IIIs ready to fire in 10 mins or less. Warheads of 300kt to 1mt. They will hit within 150ft of their target. And there’s been no failures in their history of testing.

B-52s and B-2s all over the world armed with Nuke cruise missiles and B-61 gravity bombs. The alert aircraft can be airborne in 10 mins or less.

No failures.

Our stuff works. Every time.

And it will all be aimed at the shooter at the same time.

Certain annihilation. Unstoppable.

The author is an idiot.
