Elizabeth Banks suggests her 'Charlie's Angels' box office bomb is because men 'don't go see'...

Charlie's Angels" lost its wings over the weekend, earning just $8.6 million while the racing drama "Ford v Ferarri" topped the box office with a $31 million debut and the war film "Midway" came in second earning $8.75 million, according to Box Office Mojo.

Banks -- who wrote, produced, directed, and starred as Bosley in the reboot -- hinted to the Herald Sun prior to the film's release that a form of sexism from a male-dominated audience may be to blame for its current lack of financial success.

“Look, people have to buy tickets to this movie too. This movie has to make money,” Banks told the Sun. “If this movie doesn’t make money it reinforces a stereotype in Hollywood that men don’t go see women do action movies.”

The "Hunger Games" actress seemed to dismiss the box office success of "Captain Marvel," the Brie Larson-led Marvel film that earned $1.1 billion worldwide earlier this year, as well as "Wonder Woman," which grossed $821 million in 2017, because they belonged to a "male genre."

It seems like you either get trout pout or constantly open mouth with females in movies these days.

I hate them both.

Midway came in second and also beat out this big budget SJW production, which has to annoy her.

How did you like it?

I thought it was great. Christian Bale is like Daniel Day Lewis. He never gives a bad performance. Matt Damon had the good sense to check his politics at the door. Ford GT40 is the dream car. Ferraris up the wazoo. Corporate suits were the perfect a-holes. Nothing to not like.

men don’t go see women do action movies

So... all the Browncoats are women?

I was not aware of that.

It is sort of like listening to DC whine about people not wanting to see movies about superheros.

They do when they are GOOD with witty dialog and a bit of comedy to break up the action.

Face it lady, your movie was bad. Really bad. Nobody, male or female really wanted to go see it. Ok, maybe not nobody. But certainly very few. And those who went were going for one of two reasons, the poor deluded fools were hoping it might be decent or they actually wanted to be preached at.

And as the pool of poor deluded fools shrinks you can expect your next movie to bomb even worsely.

The simple beeotch should start working for a living, then she'll have something to say to people who have to make ends meet before paying too much for too little entertainment. Oh, and she needs to shut her stupid ignorant bigoted mouth. Thanks BenLurkin.

“Banks is married to one of the most Trump-hating blowhards out there..Judd Apatow.”

Apatow is married to Leslie Mann.

Banks is married to Max Handelman. Apatow is married to somebody else.
Both marriages are apparently good. The Handelmans had trouble getting pregnant so they used surrogacy and now have 2 children.

A woman whose mouth is shut is a woman who wants nothing.

I have never much such a person.

I confess. I like strong women but I don’t like to see women acting like men.

Captain Marvel and Wonder Woman are exceptions. They are women who have superhuman abilities. Even though I haven’t seen either, I can buy that. Same with Black Widow, a highly trained former assassin.

I won’t watch tv shows with “normal” women as ass-kickers. That just ain’t right. I wonder if women even like them. If they do, go for it. Buy all the tickets you want. I’m not interested.

This rev of Charlie’s Angels will be lucky to break even. I didn’t even care for the original Charlie’s Angels tv show.

“If this movie doesn’t make money it reinforces a stereotype in Hollywood that men don’t go see women do action movies.”

Tomb Raider + sequels

Terminator + sequels

Alien + sequels

Wonderwoman

Captain Marvel

Kill Bill + sequel

Lucy

Gravity

And, oh yeah, Charlies Angels (2000 & 2003)

Not to mention dozens more that don't fit in the Action Genre. In other words Elizabeth, your movie just sucks. People are not rejecting strong women, they are rejecting your "woke feminism" and misandrist crap.

Just a thought... When one person writes, produces, directs, and stars in a movie obviously it will appeal to that person. However, to generate broader appeal you probably want more diversity in the creative process. Just saying, not everyone is going to be on your wavelength... Few people want to pay to see someone's ego trip. (*) Even fewer want to be preached at or force-fed some agenda. The audience wants to be entertained.

* The movie "The Tourist" comes to mind. It seemed to be not much more than an excuse for Angelina Jolie to wear high fashion clothing and shoot in exotic European locations. If it had anything else going for it, it was lost on me.

In his hilariously ruthless pan of this movie, John Nolte at Breitbart.com mentioned that when he saw it on opening weekend at his local multiplex, he was the only person in the theater, something that hasn’t happened before in 30 years of moviegoing. Sounds like the problem isn’t that men are sexist but that no moviegoers of any of the 57 genders want to pay good money to sit through a preachy, poorly-made, cartoonish, man-hating piece of crap.
