I know boys who sit for hours and hours and hours in front of the computer playing computer games.

Maybe their parents should read this article.

Too many families stress sports for boys.
I was lucky my dad hated most sports and concentrated on developing my mind and the strength to be independent.

Many boys learn better by being active, rather than sitting still at a desk being the perfect angel.

Remember physics and chemistry class? Remember the experiments? I remember producing toxic gases in chem lab, chlorine and bromine. I remember us coughing and running to fresher air. Those were the days.

My father encouraged sports he was actually quite good when he was in high school - all state. I was never close to be that good. I played all the sports got playing time but nothing to brag about - I was there. What he really pushed me was mastery of mathematics. All through elementary &high school I did extra math homework, often the school year would not be half over and I would done with the book. After WWII through the GI Bill he got a degree in accounting but what I think he really wanted to be was a mathematician. He married my mother as soon as the ink was dry on the discharge papers & accounting led to quick good job. I also think accounting appealed to him because he had a very orderly nature, When I was in college & be home he would pick up my math books and ask for a lesson/summary discussion on its main topic.

It’s apparent now that myopia is the biochemical response loop to the average focal length being presented to the eye over long periods of time and the process is moderated by the scene generated in sunlight with the relevant “focus at infinity” that goes along with ordinary outdoor activity.

What’s still not clear is how long this lasts. Does it shut down once you stop growing? Is it reversible at older age, or can you only prevent, not cure it?

Lot of different opinions. Hard to get medical facts because there isn’t a lot of research going to prevention or curing, both of which used to be thought of as impossible.

“both of which used to be thought of as impossible.”

Basically no profit for advising someone to do this.

Also, if your dopamine increases while your vision improves, you may not need dangerous anti depressants.

Many if not most patients don’t want simple advice like this, they want some potent drug or heavy duty exercise program led by a sadistic bully.

According to one tv commercial, you teach boys that they have periods and they can ask for tampons from other males. Disgusting. No wonder kids are so confused.

Look here I got two boys 9 and 12 , and I know more about the subject in any of these idiot pointy head intellectuals. By far Number one: teach them how to ride a bike, to swim , to hike and love the outdoors Number to teach them to respect all girls and women Number three find a sport for them that involves other people Number four have multiple activities at your house( basketball hoop, swing chair , ping-pong table , trampoline , foosball table, pool table that do not involve electronics Number five go camping - and teach them how to fish , cut wood , chop would , build a fire , set camp and break camp cook , and all of the other things involved with camping I also have a girl , now 19 , and I gave her the same training People around these parts say I would’ve been much happier in the 1800s and I believe that they are correct! My favorite statement to anybody around here is that I am re-creating my neighborhood of the 1970s! where we used to just build bike jumps play football , play capture the flag , and do all kinds of good boy activities all day every day No internet. Cell phones. Only 3 T.v channels. ( we don’t have TV 📺)

A sedentary lifestyle is harmful to everybody, male or female.

since every child not born of two whites is automatically classified as a minority and told that white people hate them so they will grow up hating America and voting Democrat.

I'm married to an Asian. No regrets and no America-haters at this address.

I grew up in a semi-rural environment pretty much without contemporaries my age so I was never much into ball games. The old house had a library of about five thousand books, and I did a lot of reading during winter. Taught by my father (Mein Vater war ein Wandersmann), I also did a lot of walking though woods and abandoned farm fields (Depression), usually accompanied by my 410 or .22. I also rode and canoed.
