Trump Curse? Nasty Nats Lose Three In A Row At Home In World Series After Dissing POTUS

After winning the first two games on the road, the Washington Nationals lost three games in a row in their World Series home stand against the Houston Astros this weekend following several snubs of President Trump by the team and protests by fans. After scoring a combined 17 runs in their two opening victories the Nationals have only scored one run per game while getting blown out at home by the Astros who have scored a combined 19 runs in their three road victories.

When Trump announced he would be attending a possible Game 5 on Sunday, the Nationals announced Trump antagonist chef Jose Andres would throw out the ceremonial first pitch for that game. (Trump had already said he was not interested in throwing the first pitch.)

That was followed by a report the team owners did not want to sit with Trump and quietly let it be known he should not ask them to do so.

At the game Sunday night, Trump was loudly booed by the wealthy D.C. swamp rats in attendance who also chanted, “lock him up”, even though just the day before a raid in Syria ordered by Trump had led to the death of ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.

Will writes good columns about baseball. Politics? Not so much.

Complaint about the foam tomahawks
was made by a Cardinals pitcher, Ryan Helsley, who’s
“Native American” as they say.
After beating the Braves, the Cards
were quickly swept by the Nats.

I have loved watching this series. Also loved watching a couple of years ago when the Astros won the World Series. Not much of a baseball fan but this has been good!

I tell you what really gets on my nerves is catchers “framing” every damn pitch. The pitcher can bounce one and the catcher pulls it out of the dirt and centers it on the plate expecting to get the strike.

No one cared about this team and their stadium was often largely empty until they won a championship and got into the World Series. All of a sudden, they had masses of longtime dedicated fans wearing team regalia. Typical of Washington and the people that live there and feed off the federal government (taxpayers).

Bull crap. The Nats started the season 19-31 and still had over 2.2 million paid attendance. They had 2.5 million last year. That stadium rocks at home games.

Were there boos when POTUS was announced? Yes, but there were cheers too. But there would have been loud boos for him at any stadium in the country. The stadiums are all in 'Rat infested cities. Including Houston.

It’s those nasty, rained on, Houston fans, who have put the doodoo on the hoodoo and put that on the Swamp Nats!

I'm a geezer, but I remember how a typical complete game from Catfish Hunter would take less than 2 hours.

I remember a game of the Seattle Mariners. I can't remember their opponent; but, it was a very low scoring game -- maybe 1-0. Both pitchers were similar in their style, which was get the ball, throw the ball, repeat. The game was over in a little over an hour and a half.

I remember this game because the next day the game announcers were talking about how the fans stayed in the stands and had their food and enjoyed being at the park on a nice day. No one got up to leave until some time after the game had ended. It was too soon to leave.

Any World Series is going to be a closely contested game. After all, the other team got to the World Series, too!

The team with fewer distractions is going to do better.

There is no bigger distraction that Donald J. Trump. The Nationals should have just played it straight, and minimized the disruption. But they had to get their little digs in, and now they are thinking about Trump instead of thinking about Baseball.

Houston is just keeping to their knitting, and is going to walk away with this thing.

I liked the guy wearing the Nationals Jersey and a MAGA Hat sitting behind Home Plate last night. That was funny.

He’s a season ticket holder and has been at every home game for years. He wore his MAGA hat at almost every, maybe even every, home game in 2016.

I live in the NE, and usually root North over South and East over West, (except for Denver) I wanted the Nats to win this series, but after the booing of the president, I hope they lose. BIG.

'Nasty Nats fans also hung a banner saying “IMPEACH TRUMP” from the upper levels of the stadium.'

Eff the Nats and their disgusting Deep State fans. GO ASTROS!

Not in Houston he wouldn't.

Same here. I was kind of half-heartedly rooting for the Nats only because they are the underdogs. I actually kind of like the Astros, and am more familiar with their players, especially George Springer, who is from our local area (New Britain, CT). He attended and played baseball at the University of Connecticut. And who doesn't love the amazing José Altuve? ;-)

Hubby and I also have followed Astros' pitcher Gerrit Cole up through the minor leagues... we've seen him up close at many minor league games over the years.

After that disgusting display last night at the Nats' game, I'm now all in for the Astros celebrating another World Series win!

(Hopefully, Exit148, our Red Sox will get their act together in 2020, lol)
