University students have slammed campus bosses for charging £150-a-week for 8x10ft 'pod' accommodation they claim is 'not fit for humans'.
The University of West England installed 21 en-suite 'pods' in one of the university's car parks last month in order to meet increased demand.
But the units have been branded 'appalling' and 'not mentally viable' by some of the students living there, some of which have already moved out just one month in.
First year students at UWE living in its Purbeck Court complex say they have been taunted by their peers for 'not living in real accommodation'.

Good heavens! That’s better than I had in the USMC!......................
The room looks fine to me and the price seems to line up with comparable prices on that campus.
BTW, I NEVER went into debt! By the time I was 40, I was a millionaire, multimillionaire by 43. My accommodations today are sumptuous. Back in the college days its was sleeping on exposed box springs resting on concrete blocks, eating on an old card table, cooking on a hot plate--and working my way through it all. It was a great learning experience--as valuable as the rest of college.
Those are nice! The only question I have...is that a real brick exterior or just a paneled facade? Real brick would make the units not as “portable”, and probably more expensive. I especially like the covered “courtyard”.
Much rather have one of these than share a room with some turkey.
There are times in my life when my wife and I lived in our car .........................
Was there a stereo stand made out of cinder blocks and 2x boards? That was standard furniture most places I lived.
I think as long as you get a roofed place, heated in winter, and a basic toilet...you ought not complain. Lets face it, you are only going to be there for a total of 40 months out of the 48 months.
Looking back at some of the military barracks I was in...the worst I could ever say was no AC in the midst of summer, and funky-smelling carpet.
That looks exactly like some of the military pods at GTMO. Didn’t have a problem with them then, and do not now. Have some privacy and don’t need to share the latrine with your stinky buddies. Huaah!!
‘not fit for humans’
Well, you were taught in school you were an animal and you swallowed it down. So what’s your problem??
Add bookcases made from milk crates an the wire-spool living room table.
You must have rich. I had to use plastic milk crates. Couldn’t afford those stylish cinder blocks.
Forgot about the wire spool tables.
Those are luxury accommodations compared to those on a diesel electric submarine!
is that a real brick exterior or just a paneled facade?
Aren’t you forgetting the cable spool table?
spoiled brats...
Looks like below the deck cruise ship accomodations. Nothing wrong with it.
I am sure I could locate hundreds of thousands, no millions of people living on this planet that would love to have such nice
accommodations.
ditto that
