Editor's note: Sports Illustrated has released a statement regarding the Astros' response to this story. The Astros initially declined to comment for this piece. After this story was published, the team released a statement in which they did not deny Brandon Taubmans comments, and insisted he was supporting the player during a difficult time. Multiple journalists have corroborated Sports Illustrateds reporting.
HOUSTON More than an hour after José Altuve won the Astros the pennant, the party in the Houston clubhouse still raged. Rightfielder Josh Reddick was crushing vodka Red Bulls. Starter Gerrit Cole smoked a cigar. Shortstop Carlos Correa gazed lovingly at the American League championship trophy.
And in the center of the room, assistant general manager Brandon Taubman turned to a group of three female reporters, including one wearing a purple domestic-violence awareness bracelet, and yelled, half a dozen times, Thank God we got Osuna! Im so f------ glad we got Osuna!

I’m not seeing the outrage here.
It could have been worse. He could have gone Zeke Mowatt on them.
cussing around professional sports! Who knew?
No it’s more than that..something to do with the purple domestic violence bracelet..but that guy probably didn’t even know what that was.
Women in the men’s locker room shocked by the language.
NO..that isn’t it. You guys aren’t reading the story.
Here is a more condense version

Astros executive accused of taunting female journalists by celebrating a player charged with domestic violence
Women should not be in the locker room.
MLB is going to investigate a guy stating he’s F’ing glad they brought a guy into their organization that has benefited that organization?
If I was a fan I’d be F’ing glad they did too.
What is the issue here?
Naw, it is the F word in front of the females. Like they had never heard the word. Put ‘em on a lie dictator and ask them how many times THEY have said that word. Get the response to that one. Heck, every one of them are so called reporters around high pitch men, super studs who play the game and full of adrenalin and testosterone and high on the game. The man was in the minute and was yelling about the game and results. They are wanting to make a big deal about him talking about the man who was said, not proven in court, to have hit this woman. Until someone is found guilty in court, you can accuse, but not put in jail. The guy was found guilty in the Court of Public Opinion, which apparently carries more power than any Court of Law in the land.
Who cares besides the leftists who cover sports since the Nation wont hire them
Did you see the little girl reporter at the center
Shes a shrill cultural Marxist about 22 searching for a cause
Its ridiculous
If you dont like it stay out the locker room girls
I read the part about Osuna’s history. I don’t see the taunt. “Thank God we got Osuna! Im so f——— glad we got Osuna!”
Because the claim is that a woman wearing a domestic violence bracelet was taunted by Astros employee using a man accused of domestic violence.
It isn’t about the cursing.
It’s about domestic violence
The reporter likely was wearing the bracelet taunting the Astros over the player they hired
I was in the media.I did live interviews.Nothing here.
It is not determined they were celebrating it
They do not like the girl making the charge
Shes a known troublemaker and they were irritating her
Btw
No disrespect to you personally
But women want to be equal
What makes women so special they cant be insulted like men are routinely?
Truth is yall dont want to be equal
You want to be special
Well hells bells yall already were.
Im sick of it
He served a 75 month game suspension due to having violated the league domestic violence policy.
I don’t know all the history of this other than the guy served a 75 month suspension for domestic violence.
The reporter likely wore the bracelet to taunt and protest the Astros.
The guy fought back saying he was glad he hired the guy.
And it has blown up from there.
Stephanie Apstein is a cute very young little Jewish girl reportetette who sees herself as a SJW battling the windmills of male patriarchy in Major League Baseball
Shes irritating and had been openly critical of the Astros hiring a man convicted of domestic battery
Which is precisely why they (Taubman) said it out loud to irritate her
Now she who claims she wants to be treated equal really doesnt ....she demands apologies and head rolls since her precious self has been offended
And last nite I watched her interviewed on ESPN by another SJW sports reporter ...Greenberg...yes it does look like an intertribal Jewish cat fight on Sports Broadcasting
Anyhow the pretty little offended Sports girl got softball questions which she used to segue into #metoo and a screech about the prevalence of bad masculine behavior in baseball and dearth of female owners and coaches and other humanizing influences
I vomited on my coffee table and changed channels
Thanks for the explanation.
Being accused does not make one guilty. If the reporterette was in fact wearing the bracelet as a form of protest against the team, fine.
How does the manager being F’ing thankful for the guys contributions to the team warrant an investigation?
It seems the fact that the manager said this offended the reporter wearing the bracelet. So the league will conduct an inquisition based on a reporters sensibilities?
Where does this end? Especially with the left who are perpetually offended.
Until reading this story, I would have no idea whatsoever what a “purple bracelet” signified.
