Thailand's King Vajiralongkorn has stripped his royal consort of her rank and titles for "misbehaviour and disloyalty against the monarch".
An official announcement said Sineenat Wongvajirapakdi had been "ambitious" and tried to "elevate herself to the same state as the queen".
"The royal consort's behaviors were considered disrespectful," it said.
She was appointed in July, just two months after the king married Queen Suthida, his fourth wife.
Sineenat, who was a major-general and is a trained pilot, nurse, and bodyguard, was the first person to be awarded the title of Royal Noble Consort in nearly a century.

Some freepers think he was eligible to be President of the USA.
He was born in Cambridge MA.
You just can’t get respectful consorts anymore!
Well, she’s probably a little too old for Dennis Quaid..
oops, I did search FR archives for any other/previous refs to this story, and here it is. Sorry
Ping.
I saw him up rather close and personal, a few times. We waved to each other once. I just came to appreciate how deeply the Thai people naturally loved and respected Rama 9. Almost the opposite is true with his son. Spooky times ahead for Thailand in the future . Nye anakoat , mai wai....
Thailand?
strips?
May we never stop asking.
I totally agree with your opinion on this. My son and his wife lived in Thailand (Chiang Mai) for a year in 2018-2019 and they learned that there are serious penalties for saying anything even remotely critical of the king. When we visited, we saw a great many of the older residents had photos of Rama 9 in their businesses and vehicles. There is no question they loved him (and he loved them back) but feel little affection for his son.
His son is a sad excuse for a King.

Is this a Megan Markle thread?

I will not criticize the king for this. After all, who among us has not stripped a consort?
Oh, wait. I think stripped is being used in a different sense here. Never mind.
It’s the short hair.
I’d boot her as consort too if she cut her hair like that.
The Thais also love Game of Thrones, so is anybody seeing a Siamese Baratheon?

A chain is only as strong as its weakest link. Imperial Russia and Imperial Germany both learned that the hard way. And with Charles in the wings, I suspect the UK will learn it as well.
