Graham Threatens To Become Trump’s ‘Worst Nightmare’ In Escalating Feud
TPM ^ | Oct 16 2019 | Cristina Cabrera

Sen. Lindsey Graham’s (R-SC) stalwart loyalty to President Donald Trump is starting to see more cracks as Trump doubles down on his decision to pull U.S. troops out of Syria.

Graham, who’s been railing against the decision for more than a week, appeared on the Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN) on Wednesday morning to blast the consequences of the U.S. leaving the Kurds to deal with Turkey and ISIS detainees in Syria on their own.

“I am looking to President Trump to change this,” the Republican senator told CBN host Pat Robertson. “I will do anything I can to help him, but I will also become President Trump’s worst nightmare.”

“I will not settle on the sidelines and watch a good ally, the Kurds, be slaughtered by Turkey and watch Iran move into Syria and become another nightmare for Israel,” Graham continued.

One of Trump’s biggest problems is turning friends into mortal enemys with his needlessly harsh criticisms. One thing I learned since 2016 is that politicians are the thinnest skinned creatures and if you humiliate them they will hold a grudge and try to destroy you. McCain is a good example. If Trump hadn’t dissed him he probably would have voted to scrap Obamacare. It would have been a huge win for Trump but McCain had to get revenge. Flake, Romney, the Bushes, Scaramouchi, Mattis, T-Rex, etc, used to be neutral or supportive, are now virulently anti-Trump. Now Lindsay Graham seems to be turning against Trump after his comments about Syria. This is not helpful for 2020.

Can anyone see now why I don’t necessarily jump on the bandwagon of folks who seemingly have a change of heart?

The people who come out like his can never be fully trusted again.

Cruz, Levin, Beck, Graham, Newt, McConnell, about all these people do is set you up for the next big fall. “Oh I’m really great... Pay attention to me!” Then it finally happens again, “The president is wrong here!”, when he really isn’t.

I’m not saying they’re all on the wrong side of this right now, but it’s only a matter of time before they cut the legs out from under Trump again. They just can’t help themselves. This time it’s Graham. Next time it will be one or more of the others.

They graduated with flying colors from Back-Stabber U.

Graham is now back to channeling John S(tupid) McCain

He was the first person I ever knew to channel someone before they died. I wonder if Guiness knows?

At any rate, we all saw this coming at some point, with Graham. The others will come tottering along soon enough, on this or another issue.

Sad...

You will probably catch some flak for posting that. But there is a lot of truth in what you say. Back before he ran for president, Trump had to deal with the labor unions to get things done. I can’t believe that he was harsh with those union guys. Because such an approach would certainly (and I mean certainly) backfire.

So what’s going on here? My best guess is that Trump is still in campaign mode, where you have to be harsh to win.

Republicans never had any intention of scrapping Obamacare. They would've been held accountable. Had McCain not fallen on his sword, someone else would've had to and since McCain was dying, he had nothing to lose.

“He did a complete 180 on Maria Batriomo’s show today.”

I bet Graham got blasted by a bunch of emails for the nonsense he was spouting.

I know I’m being silly, but why hasn’t the UN stepped in between these two warring parties?

I agree you are being silly. On its face, one might ask, "what's the difference between UN and US peacekeepers?" The obvious answer is the potential force backing them. The thought is that a US deployment tripwire would be less likely to be broken than a UN deployment.

Dear Linda,

Trump pulled 50 special forces out so Turkey could clear out the PKK who are terrorist Kurds.

You confuse those Kurds with the Kurds in the South.

Trump spends so much time understanding situations and the pols spend none.

The Pols have a motto they live by, “Don’t Fk with my nut!”.

A corrupt nut, but a nut nonetheless.
