Yesterday I had a free loaner while my car was in the shop.Nice, sunny day...nothing to do...I decided to drive down to Greenwich,Connecticut.
For those who don't know,Greenwich is an obscenely wealthy suburb of NYC that's located right on Long Island Sound. On arrival I started walking around looking at the multi million dollar mansions (boy,I wish I had studied harder in school!). I came upon a short gravel path leading up to a small dock on the Sound.
Behind me came an older woman...70s,maybe even 80...who said hello to me. We got chatting and started talking about a vacant lot that was nearby, which went right up to the water. I mentioned that it wouldn't be a surprise if someone wanted to build there.
She,having told me that she lived in the neighborhood, said "yes, someone is trying to build there but the Town is blocking them".
Long story short we got to talking about the pluses and minuses of living right on the water. I mentioned hurricanes and she said "and what about global warming?" I then asked her, calmly and politely,to explain algore's and Osama Obama's beachfront mansions. She replied "do you have kids and grand kids,do you care about them?"
And she walked away.
I smiled quietly, rather than get all snooty, because she was a nice, friendly lady who, unless I'm mistaken, was living in a very expensive house very close to the water.
Rich liberals...who can explain them? I can't!
Cognitive dissonance at work...
,,,they Live Amongst Us.
I can never remember the author of this this quote (I think it was either Mark Twain or Will Rogers) but it goes, “If a Democrat had any common sense, he wouldn’t be a Democrat.”
Years ago worked in Greenwich. One day I took a suit to a dry cleaners. The clerk asked what I wanted him to do with it. Burn it? Snobbery all the way down.
Her procreating is causing more demand for coal, oil, gas and other earth-strangling resources.
She should feel ashamed of herself /end sarc/.
Having great wealth does not equal having wisdom or common-sense
You should have sold her a few million dollars of carbon credits.
They’re always nice, until they find out you’re a Republican.
Nobody actually believes that BS. Nice pivot on her part, or deflection, but it’s clear she knows it is nonsense.
Some of the more dense people will accept anything they are told, but the ones that do, the “true believers”, ironically will be the first against the wall when the time comes, historically speaking. They are dangerous. That’s how it always works.
Liberals dont want to save the planet. Instead, they want to force you to save the planet.
As a matter of fact I did.I just cashed the check and I'm now planning to move to Greenwich! ;-)
They are very easy to understand. I am very wealthy so I deserve to be running things.
I’d ask why these global warming people hate trees and crops and stuff. Trees need CO2 and the warmer it is the more food can grow.
Yup,with all the Ferrari’s and Bentleys you see on the street that’s easy to believe.
I know a _lot_ of those folks (also live in CT).
They love the “climate change” meme because it makes them feel superior to the deplorables who don’t “get it”.
It is a social status marker.
You can’t argue with a social status marker!
What the old lady didnt tell you is that the oceanfront lot is vacant not because the Town is stopping anyone from building there ... but because she and her overbred misfit fellow citizens are using this global warming bullsh!t to pressure the Town into protecting their ocean views on the properties behind it.
The encounter probably made her day.
To end a conversion on a note of moral condemnation and then walk away — that’s the kind of thing liberals fantasize about.
