I have an iPhone 8 that’s still on 12.4.1.
Is it worth upgrading to 13, or should I wait a bit longer to see if all the kinks are worked out?

I upgraded. I was having a Bluetooth glitch intermittently where it would cut in and out. We’ll see if this fixes it. Release notes mention Bluetooth improvements.

Ever since the last update, apps on my IPad wont open from the dock, but I dont see where they have addressed that. Oh well, maybe next update.

Not a “naysayer” by any means. But really, that last update before this one was an outright mess. None of our devices could get a verification of the download. We’ve never had that problem before. It kept telling every device that it was not connected to the internet...yet, all of em were receiving email, browsing the web, etc. We finally gave up on it.
Let’s see if this one fixes all that. Fingers crossed. :)

Updated my iPhone and the new schematics are making it hard to read (have adjusted everything possible but this was not an eye friendly update.)
Can I go back to previous version?

LOL...I saw your post and went to Settings to see what I was running on this iPad. It told me 13.1.2 but it also said this update was downloading and I had 10 seconds to go. It completed and switched to preparing update.
So far, 13.1.2 has been stable and there are several thins I really like.
Im bugged that, when Im editing some text, I can no longer get the magnifying bubble popping up to make it easier to position the cursor. I had that turned on before is there a setting to turn that back on?

The last upgrade to my iPad killed my Dolphin browser. It crashes on launch. Of course there have been no updates to the browser.
I wrote to tech support without reply.
NEVER upgrade operating systems unless the upgrade addresses an existing problem that youre having! Especially on Apple products.

I suggest you call 1 (800) My-Apple and insist on talking to an person in the iOS section. They can most likely help on this.

Have you tried taking them off the dock, starting them from the home screen, seeing if they work there, then putting them back on the dock? Might be a location registration glitch in your iPhone.

Apple and all their liberal pom-pom girls are such frauds. They force you into buying new hardware (how ya like that, environment!) after a few new releases.

Why dont you go spread your peculiar brand of bile some where you know what you are talking about, instead of trying to sell it to people who actually know what theyve experienced. Most of us upgrade our hardware because we want to, handing down our older models to family members or selling it at a very good price to someone who wants it, to finance a good chunk of the new one we are buying, far more than any price that the competition of similar age can bring.

I did some digging and it turns out that there are MAJOR changes to the way you move the cursor, select text, select words, etc. The "Loupe" feature seems to be available with a different gesture. The entire insertion point / caret has changed appearance. The changes are being touted as major advances in the way you navigate and edit text. But there are LOTS of complaints by people that the "loupe" feature is gone and people cannot see the cursor under their fat fingers (that's me, too).
How to select, copy, and paste text in iOS 13 and iPadOS 13
Now you have to do a lot of three finger tapping, three finger pinching in, and three finger pinching out. Ugh.
To: Swordmaker
Yeah, try running any major software on iPad 10.anything.
Oh, and nice pom-poms.
