A former Fort Worth police officer who resigned Monday after fatally shooting a black woman in her home has been booked in jail for murder, according to inmate records on the Tarrant County Correction Center website. Aaron Dean, who is white, fatally shot 28-year-old Atatiana Jefferson early Saturday morning as she played video games with her nephew.

He intended to pull the trigger. Under Texas law that’s murder. Don’t matter if it was a year or 1/10th of a second. He deliberately shot her without any legal justification. She died.

It has to do with cops carrying guns they have no business carrying. That gun was developed in Austria for the Austrian military. It has no other safety mechanism other than a detent on the trigger. I know because I own one. If your finger is on the trigger at any time, you stand a good chance of discharging that gun. If you watch the video, he starts to say: "Show me your hands.." but he doesn't even get the last word out of his mouth before the gun goes off. He likely had his finger on the trigger while he was fumbling with his flashlight or tripping over something in the dark, and the gun went off. He is guilty of being a supreme idiot, and carrying a piece of equipment he had no business carrying. You never put your finger on the trigger of a Glock unless you are about to pull it.
Here comes the Lynch mob. Out to appease the blacks. Murder?? The victim was holding a gun. The victim was not at fault, but this is not murder. Manslaughter? Perhaps. This quick murder charge is nothing more than appeasement.
There is a difference, as it wasn’t with malice intent against the person. Like I said I am not making excuses for this policeman, he made a huge mistake in judgement, and he will pay dearly for it. One reason I would never get into law enforcement, damned if you do, and possibly dead if you don’t.

Because he deliberately shot an innocent woman to death without a shred of legal justification. I hope he’s sentenced to 50 years and gets the snot kicked out of him every single day of it.
Let him serve as a warning to every other trigger happy jerk with a badge.

They went in after she was shot but body cams were off.
She had a conceal carry permit. At 2:30 am she becomes aware of ‘prowlers’ in the yard. She, like anyone else would do goes and gets her pistol. The officers do not identify themselves only drop the weapon and hands up, and then immediately opened fire. Stupid stupid stupid.
Then why did he immediately move the body cam to the left before he fired?

If as a cop you are so scared that you can’t respond to a non-emergency call without pulling a trigger blindly through an open window, you should tell someone so they can kick you off the force before you murder anyone.

An excellent observation.
In past days before all of this “important that you get home safe” stuff and the swat team mentality, I remember a gray head state trooper arresting a drunk driver and putting him in the front seat. He then turned his back on the drunk in his patrol car to talk to me and to check the drunk’s car. A real man confident in his behavior.
I also had a personal experience during which a detective climbed up a front stoop to a window to do a welfare check on a woman who had locked herself in her house and would communicate with with no one, not even her daughter.
After it was over, he laughed at the fact that she came to the window with her arm in a sling. He said that it went through his mind that she might have a pistol hidden in the sling and he might get shot.
Two examples of the old style cop.

He won’t be acquitted. The charge is solid. He’s going to jail.
